Shedding sheep of some description

I have not converted to the other side!

Father wants some lawn mowers for a paddock and I can't be arsed to give him some of ours and then have to go down and shear them etc, so thinking if I get him some shedders, they can happily chomp away and not get struck, not need shearing etc

To be honest not worried what they are, could be a gang of wethers, he just wants something to chew the grass and give the grand kids something to feed.

6 or 7 animals.

Thoughts?

Don't think they can't get struck @crazy_bull , they still want watching
Its very , very simple.

When they have shed and around the end of May or early June just treat with the correct rate of Clik extra and that will be it for the season.

No complication of waiting to be shorn and unapplied pouron or applied pouron for the shearers like thousands of ewes now at risk of strike and waiting for reasonable weather .

Mmm

I found with mine, I still had to have them in and pull any residual tufts off

I bought some easycare ewes from a Mr. Hull from Essex at the society sale in Worcester. Good sheep.

@crazy_bull Do not even think about it. I have owned a few hundred in my time. They are very amusing - sometimes. In Australia we had the usual Aussie enormous diameter gate posts and it was not unusual to turn into the entrance and see one perched on each post. They normally jumped down on the wrong side of the gate.

Seriously, goats are browsers that will graze frequently, but they will decide they have to have their browse and will most definitely find it for themselves.

He's gonna have a gang of my young cull ewes, ones that have had mastitis or blind teats. figured better to give him those as opposed to kill them for £50 and buy some older ewes for £50.

will just have to shear them once a year and dose with clik.

Job done........ although he did mention alpacas last time I was on the phone to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clipping a few sheep is a doddle compared to alpaca haircuts...
