Planting maize into the zones the Stripcat made eight days ago. Fingers crossed View attachment 797604View attachment 797606
Crop has emerged nice and even. Shame there was problems with the fert tank on the strip till machine- we couldn't place fert under the crop. When we tried it six years ago we felt it went hungry until the rain washed in the broadcast nitrogen. But this time we did catch a shower so hopefully will keep growing
It had Maize Accelerator with the drill.

The no till half is a more even compare the conventional side. No till came up a week slower but has caught up in the last week. Our first go at no till so surprised with the results.

This field is part of a Thames water sensitive water catchment field lab. Trialling no till vs conventional methods along side water courses, specifically phosphorus run off
Conventional as in ploughed?

@Brisel when were they sown? I am growing canyon for the first time and they look similar in that they have not closed the row in.

8th April. The other fields in this block were sown at the same time by Claydon - these look a bit more variable though the field in the photo is better ground. 100 kg/ha N applied as liquid pre emergence plus 23 kg available N from manure. 0.2 Moddus during tillering & 0.25 kg (half rate) Medax Max applied during late stem extension, so I'm not expecting much lodging. No fungicide so far but Proline + Comet due when ears are fully emerged.
