There must be a reason that McCorrmick now only sell about 200 tractors a year in the UK ,and John Deere sell some 4000 . Reliability?
A lot of us that had sat in a 'Doncaster made' IH / Case for a lot of hours followed on to McCormick when they took on the Wheatley Road factory in 2000, I was certainly tempted. But when Argo shut the factory and shipped the tooling to Italy in late '06/ early '07 the connection to earlier machines was lost, and most of the goodwill with it.

I ran a Landini 7.715 (identical to the McCormick) for 3 years, was a powerful comfortable tractor

Changed to a case mostly down to the better tech Available on the case (everything running on the one screen ) the cabs on them have improved, but I think they've got a ways to come yet to catch up.

If you want raw power and basics, they're a good enough bet, but if your going autosteer and fancy, I don't think the McCormick is there yet

Been running mccormick since 2008. Don't really know why people are saying they are bad tractors, not had too much bother with the bigger ones, mostly just sensors and the like which usually you can work around and keep the tractors going till you get sorted. I will say the little one we have, X60. 30 is a awful tractor, worst clutch I've ever had in a tractor and whoever had the bright idea of making you go in a faster gear backwards than forwards needs shooting.

I actually find them a lot more comfortable than any other tractors I drive for other people, JD New Holland or case, admittably I've never driven a fendt or a fastrac. But maybe that's just out of what you are used to feeling when driving.

Onto a X7.680 and liking it plenty so far. But cheap to buy they are not.

Must of "ironed" them out on that year or our's was a "friday" tractor ?
Have you got one as well????? Got one as the MC was so good (still have it) but as regards the X7 three years of constant error codes and failures, dealers unable to rectify problems, it spends more time at Harworth than it does here! And yet McCormick say there is nothing wrong with it! The X7.680 is very comfortable but being able to work AND stop when you brake is more important!!!!!!

@McSpreading what have been the problems with your X7 that it has to go back to Harworth. If you don’t mind me asking
Multiple Gearbox error codes, Multiple Engine error codes, fuses blowing, brake failure, refusing to move and to add insult to injury, the radio stopped working.

It went into Harworth in December (this was after a dealer supposedly rectified all the problems at McCormicks bidding and failed after 4 hours work), was there for 10 weeks and the assurance was given that it had been gone over with a fine tooth comb and every issue had been addressed. It managed a total of 38 hours work with niggling issues before it became unsafe to drive. It returned to Harworth 7 weeks ago and still isn't ready to come back to work.

My son is the best person to talk to so if you have any questions give me some contact details as it is beginning to look like there are more cases like ours than McCormick are prepared to admit to!

According to Classic Tractor they only sold 58 tractors in the UK in 2018. Can’t be much of a future in that.
Not sure why anyone would take the risk to be honest. There’s enough variety and price difference in the main brands.
