It is a portmanteau, but I chose 'plan' rather than pleb; I invented it because I simply could not think of anything rational that rhymes or alliterates well with 'minion'.

Everyday is a schoolday! Just looked it up,first used by Lewis Carroll in "Through the Looking Glass" who of course wrote Jabberwocky aswell,so i was not far off the mark. It’s a portmanteau - pleb minion.
That's the received wisdom, but I had an English master at school who disliked Carroll and was convinced that an English master from his schooldays had given him a much earlier - circa Shakespeare - example. However, much to his frustration, he could never recall or find it - he even offered a £10 prize to any boy that could identify it - which was a fair amount in the early 80s.Everyday is a schoolday! Well noted. And those Conservative Party members (who are going to be the ones who decide who 'rules' us) will all be well dead and buried pretty soon leaving next generations to suffer their misguided headlong rush back into the mis-remembered 50s and 60s.Quite amazing that the You Gov Poll of Tory Party members indicates the membership is quite happy to destroy the UK economy and break up of the union to ensure leave the EU. Find it quite amazing what those late middle aged, white men and women, living primarily in the southern shires will do. And then there are some on here comment why there has to be these TV debates. Pretty important the rest of us have some future reference point to relate to when holding these Tories to account.

Hey ho.
Yup. So much for the Conservative and Unionist party. It seems to me it's heading more towards the English Nationalist party.Quite amazing that the You Gov Poll of Tory Party members indicates the membership is quite happy to destroy the UK economy and break up of the union to ensure leave the EU. I guess the fact that the people you so denigrate built the country and have paid and still pay a disproportionate amount of tax to run it is neither here nor there, nor the fact that their views have been ignored or mocked. Liberal self-righteousness, always there to help us see things the 'right' way, it's simple priggishness and no more.Quite amazing that the You Gov Poll of Tory Party members indicates the membership is quite happy to destroy the UK economy and break up of the union to ensure leave the EU. Presumably that means you are not a supporter of the Scottish National(ist) Party, nor of Plaid Cymru the party of Wales - more accurately 'a party in Wales'...Yup. So much for the Conservative and Unionist party. It seems to me it's heading more towards the English Nationalist party.
If the EU has tried to break the country up, it looks like the Tory party faithful are only too keen to help them.I guess the fact that the people you so denigrate built the country and have paid and still pay a disproportionate amount of tax to run it is neither here nor there, nor the fact that their views have been ignored or mocked. The truth is that the people questioned have more faith in the nation and their fellow-countrymen than you do, that they believe in its democracy and autonomy, which you don't, and that they don't whinge and fall to pieces when they don't get their own way...
I have no idea if you support the Liberals, Labour, the Greens or whichever other party, if any. But it is a stone cold certainty that any current 'alternative' to Conservative government will see the economy flattened or our democracy and sovereignty extinguished, or both.
Today is Wednesday June 19th 2019, once we are out of the EU and the economy is prospering and the doom and talking-down has been seen to be false prophesy, will you admit to being an hysterical ninny and wrong?
It is a quite remarkable thing what the EU has sought to do to this country, and others, viz break it up by regionalisation, subvert its democracy via diktat etc.. It's also remarkable what young brown men are doing to destroy this society, drugs, gangs, stabbings etc., but hey ho.

No, I'm not an SNP supporter. I was a Tory voter but the way the party is moving leaves me very cold. I would think many Tories up here would think the same. Ruth Davidson has made a lot of good progress. Bojo's coronation will put a stop to that.Presumably that means you are not a supporter of the Scottish National(ist) Party, nor of Plaid Cymru the party of Wales - more accurately 'a party in Wales'...
I have not seen the wording of the poll, and I don't know the break-down of the members asked so am unable to write with authority about the validity of the poll - although I will say that in many years of being a Tory member I can only think of a couple of individuals who thought like that. But I note that you have neither disputed the EU's intention nor come to the defence of the SNP and PC.If the EU has tried to break the country up, it looks like the Tory party faithful are only too keen to help them.
I'm not here to defend EU, SNP or PC. I'm here to express my own opinion, which appears to be moving very quickly away from that of the Tories.I have not seen the wording of the poll, and I don't know the break-down of the members asked so am unable to write with authority about the validity of the poll - although I will say that in many years of being a Tory member I can only think of a couple of individuals who thought like that. Sorry, touched a nerve!! I did not denigrate them or not my intention. Just found the You Gov result interesting.
And indeed we shall see how it turns out.
Bit disappointed by your last paragraph - does not become you. I find you eloquent and thoughtful posts very interesting. I have concluded your background and connections is totally different to mine and as such an interesting insight.
Best wishes,

Hey ho.
So to be clear, Brexit by any means on Halloween night is more important to theTories/Leavers than to retain the United Kingdom? What a racist and ageist post.
What you neglect to face up to is millions of people have lost their jobs for decades thanks to self serving ideological Liberal nutters.
If you don't like the fact that those who have lost out value Liberal jobs as less than worthless .. you'll get given what you have dolled out in buckets and spades to everyone else.
I'll state this plainly .. the Tories are quite mild and Liberal compared to what I want to see happen.
Correct. And they don't care about the economy either. Never mind, they'll make England great again and doubtless have another empire in short order! So to be clear, Brexit by any means on Halloween night is more important to theTories/Leavers than to retain the United Kingdom?
Scary!!
