I did have a meeting today with a Natural England representative. He wasn't over confident that everyone will be paid by 31st July.

Not just farmers that are cynical !
It says in the email they “expect” to pay by the end of July, so not written in blood then is it and they still wonder why we are so unhappy with these schemes we wander into them in good faith then find out it’s all a bit one sided, however I think they may of backed themselves into a corner this time, I do hope so!

I wasn't always cynical,

Once it was decided that the payments were going to be made on the basis of the headline scheme value there is no reason why it could not have been carried out imedialy with a few pushes of the right buttons. Anyone who doubts this just think about the big corporations who pay their tens of thousands of employees on time 12 times a year. Where there is a will there is a way!

NE is still run by anti farmer numpties.....they are still clinging on despite the rpa taking on payment of schemes monies. These environmentalists are losing their powers and don’t like it...witness the two fellows before that efra Neil Parish session linked earlier, also Tony Juniper and general licence debacle.

So the lazy snakes at the RPA are either still coiled up under a stone dreaming up the next excuse or they are all feverishly beavering away to make a sudden and complete payment to us all - any guesses? Nothing so far here.

Now that Gove is out of the running for PM, I expect the urgency of keeping farmers happy has been eluded.

Guy Smith - we are 2 weeks into July, is there evidence that the RPA have started making the promised payments yet?

We share your concerns.

We have been reassured they will get this money out in July.

So they have £115 million to get out across 21,500 agreements in 10-12 working days. . That is achievable but, like you I’ll be a lot happier when I see it started and I’d be very worried if it didn’t start this week.

We have meetings in the diary and this is top of my agenda.

Will this (hopefully) include any due 2019 payments?
