Unique Trike Stolen.

Another possible sighting, about two miles from my place on a main road going past a big hotel.

Both “sightings” are in Warwickshire and it’s becoming increasingly clear that W Mids aren’t that bothered.

I’ve spoken to Warwickshire a couple of times but even though it may have been seen in Warwickshire, it’s W Mids that have to investigate because that’s where it was stolen from. We are literally right on the border.

At the weekend I resigned to myself I would never see it again but the two possible sightings have now fired me up a bit. It’s all a long shot I know, but it’s bloody annoying the W Mids haven’t even acknowledged a crime has been committed let alone contacted me to discuss it.

Update.

Hooray! I’ve received a call from W.Mids police. Thanking me for my email received yesterday, in which I asked for an update on what has been happening in my case and has there been any progress.

To cut a long story short, nobody seems to have any details of the crime. No record of two emails sent or three phone calls when I have actually had a conversation with somebody in their camp. No record of the possible sightings or of the reg. numbers of suspicious vehicles and their occupants. No record of a crime reported eight days ago, except that something had been filed straight into a database. The reason for that is because I failed in not having any cctv on my premises.

In short, yesterday’s email asking for an update came as a bit of a surprise to them. Chap I spoke to would circulate a description of the vehicle to officers. Eight days after the theft.

Lost my temper and told them if ever they need help at any time not to bother expecting any from me.

What a completely disappointing and demoralising experience.

VIDEO showing the moment a thief who’d stolen a quad bike crashed it into a police car has been released.
the rider Ieuan Evans, aged 25, of Merthyr Tydfil, admitted taking the vehicle without consent, failing to stop for police and driving without insurance.

he was given a community order by magistrates at Merthyr Tydfil and told to carryout 80 hours of unpaid work.
He is also banned from driving for six months, and must pay £85 costs plus a £90 victim surcharge.

So getting caught stealing a brand new quad bike, cost him £175

I once had a motorcycle stolen and after hearing nothing from the police went to the station got told there had been a mistake in how the case was raised. Apparently and please correct me there are 3 types of crime breaking nothing taken, breaking non motor vehicle taken and breaking vehicle taken. Mine got raised as the first and they put a part time pregnant officer on the case

They're lucky he didn't get compensation for his injuries

None whatsoever.

The police won’t ask local businesses for cctv footage, but said I should ask myself. One place is Sainsbury’s in Kenilworth. I’ve known the manager there all my life.

She now has a regular visit, every three weeks or so, from a couple of blokes who walk in, stack the biggest trolley as high as they can with the most expensive spirits and walk out.

She is actually not allowed to lock them in and the police have told her to just let the crooks get on with. Don’t challenge them, don’t call the police again either.

There is no deterrent whatsoever for these people.

There is a fair sized military force in the UK who, whilst I’m sure are busy, can’t be overstretched. Put it this way, if we were invaded tomorrow I’m pretty sure troops wouldn’t appear out of the woodwork quick smart. Why can’t they be mobilised to help the police?

If only your example was an isolated incident! Can anyone on here offer an example of police response to rural crime (especially where travelers are involved) that they were satisfied with?

We had a spate of break-ins last year and the police reaction was varied from "just get your insurance to deal with it" to "there's nothing we can do".

You're also right about having to do your own detective work. We had 2 tons of bagged cattle feed stolen from a shed (open fronted like many feed stores and barns so the initial police reaction was a shoulder shrug). Also suitable for horses so we had a pretty good idea where it had gone. Sure enough some empty branded bags started appearing near an illegal grazing site. Photo were taken and police informed.

THREE MONTHS later the police called saying they were visiting the grazing site but could see no evidence!

In the meantime we had found multiple witnesses who had seen a particular traveller with the feed and a farmer who was a victim of fly-grazing confronted him with the feed in his van. This traveler is well known locally as the King Gypsy of the local site and has been implicated in numerous frauds, thefts and coursing. There's even a video of him on youtube bragging about his illegal gambling ring betting on dogs and hares.

The police response to my evidence was "we're waiting for him to do something bigger to put him away for longer!"

When is something going to be done?

It’s a total joke. No deterrent. They need bunging in the back of a transit and taken somewhere quiet.

There seems to be a big problem with getting neighboring police forces to share information and the criminals know it! They even have a name for it....'Cross Boarder Crime'. It's almost as though these police forces are in different countries. Why this is the case in this day and age with all the technology available and connectivity I do not know.

Hope that you get your property back CoP.

Aye but I bet if your speeding and get chased by the coppers, making it to the county line won’t help you like in the dukes of hazard.

If the manager at the store is losing that much booze to persistent offenders it would pay them to employ a few burly blokes with baseball bats to wait for them and show them the error of their ways.
Bet the cops would take an interest then.
