Illness and onwards

Well, another day, another few completed jobs.

Finished the McConnell control box, and even managed a remap or 2,including the John Deere forestry machine. AdBlue removed, and a tweak as well. Owner very happy.

Tomorrow is a bit different, got another case puma 150 to do. The one from yesterday went on a dyno and was sat happily at 208hp, with everything running well under parameters.

Tomorrow's chap wants to retain the adblue (for whatever reason) but also has a 414s that he wants to push a bit harder.

Also on the agenda is a t5 110 for a push, and recalibration the cab suspension on a massey.

I got asked today about a load of the tuning companies that have recently started tuning tractors.

As far as I can see they seem to be doing a good job, pretty reliable, but at the same time, none of them seem to offer actual warranties, and (having done a few phonecall to ask for details) clearly didn't know anything about tractors [emoji23] one chap claimed to have been mapping them for the last 3 years, fine. When I asked him how it felt afterwards, and how the gearbox responded, his answer was "oh it was great, the usual really. Pulled well between 3-4th but didn't get to 5th." I asked what he meant by 5th and he said "you know, top gear obviously"

So all I'd say is if you guys are after remaps, try and do a bit of research on the guys you use. If they look like they just do cars, press them for specifics. I'm far from the be all and end all, but tractors, machinery and heavy engineering is my bag [emoji23] and if I can't answer, I will point you in the direction of someone who can.
You say you delete the ad blue what's the legal standing once its been deleted say the tractor was involved in an accident, could the insurance company wriggle out of it as the engine has effectively been tampered with they would look for every loop hole..and on a more serious note if someone was killed in an accident where would the owner stand then??

Okay i lied!

Another question. How does it work with different tractor with same camera? If i fitted camera to a livestock trailer would same camera work with tractors with same brand of screen fitted?

As long as they're the same frequency then yeah, we had one on combine auger and combine screen and tractor screen could both pick up the image.

When it comes to any modification, I make the owner read through a sort of disclaimer or sorts.

The first element is very similar to a car tuning friends one which basically says

"as with any modification, your insurance company must be notified. Failure to do so may result in prosecution, fine, points, or all of the above"

Along with this, and being a bit of a stick in the mud, I will reset it back to standard if they don't sign [emoji23] mainly because it's a way of protecting myself as well as them. There is also a clause in the fine print that means I get their farm if they have a tractor done through me [emoji6][emoji23] (joking)

But in all seriousness it's like with anything. Responsibility as well as traceability

Turns out, heated hand warmers in a skidsteer are chuffing lovely [emoji23] as is a reversing camera linked to a rear view mirror.

Even had time for a remap on a jcb loadall whilst it was having its side veiw camera done. The old man decided to give a hand with wiring as I spent most of the day throwing up, bloody meds, but all in all everything worked a treat, chappy even happy the loadall pulled better up the lane and rang me this evening to say bloody good tool, and now I can see the side it's taking the strain out of my neck too.

So all in all, very happy day. Now for a lamb dinner, and ice cream with the squirt before school tomorrow [emoji16]

Hope everyone else has had a good week [emoji106]

I've got a terex t200 here today, the joystick is defunct. It's in bits on the table, and I've redone the aux buttons, and reassembling after the school run [emoji23] fingers crossed all A-OK, as tomorrow, I've got a fastrac in for a remap, and apparently the control unit for the hydraulics is a bit "funky" so will be trying to sort that too.

Other than that, tig welded a new exhaust curve and pipe on the terex, and fitted some super bright lights. Next week getting a new phone so can take proper pictures of everything [emoji4]

What age is the fastrac? The electronic spools on the 3000 series are renound for failing.

2010, all round very tidy nick, but there's definitely an issue with those hydraulics [emoji23] they just seem to do what they want when they want, no matter what you press.

Hey ho, terex joystick all sorted and working a treat, but have just checked the alternator and it's on its way out but throwing weird voltage spikes now and again, could be problematic, so ordered new one, and my friend has just popped by with his dyno for a bit of map work so am looking forward to this one.

Running through some of the dealer software I've got, the agco one in particular, and I think I've just found the bit for altering gearbox speed data, so have borrowed someones fendt with a 50k to see if it's alterable. Now before people start harping on about brakes, hubs, drive trains and everything else, it will just be for test purposes, incase anyone wants the gearbox pinned back a touch, or occasionally putting the speed back up if it gets knocked down

I don't blame you and other techs for making the changes but all these farming folk doing 50 or 60k with 20+ ton trailers (both illegal in the UK) will be crying and weeping when compulsory tractor MOT's are introduced.

Tweaking the torque characteristics of a tractor is right up my street but anything else is vanity and insanity IMHO.

My old TD5 Disco had been tewaked for low torque and was beautiful to drive as a result, especially with a loaded trailer.

Keep up the good work and best wishes with your ongoing health.

I love mapping for torque. The difference is night and day, especially with it accessible low down.

Thank you, I appreciate your kindness [emoji4] it's a great platform for chatting to people, drumming up a bit of business and making myself feel like I'm achieving something when I feel sh!t [emoji23]
