waiting to pay for petrol, chap in front was on his 5th credit card, that one went through on its 3 attempt, just thinking why didn't the garage tell him to f/o, then realised the petrol was already in his car ! When, I got to pay, mentioned it, oh that's quite common, it's only hassle, when none go through !

Happens every time with one of my Credit cards in the local Tesco garage - chip unrecognised

I just swap terminals and it goes through straight away - it's their crap equipment

I joke with the lads on the tills that Tesco should upgrade their card readers - they constantly ask for new tills and terminals and the big board displaying prices has been bust for weeks - lads say they're saying no money for new gear

My card doesnt work contactless in local Lidl but does work in the machine, at sainsburys it wont work at all at the self scan machines but fine at tills, seems no trouble anywhere else.

I know a few soft fruit growers that now find that by Friday they must have recruited 150+% of their required pickers for Monday, if all goes well they might have about the right number by Monday lunchtime and if its is a good week they may still have 70% of their staff requirements turn up Friday morning! :scratchhead:

my debit card used to play up at mvfamers, nowhere else, it's embarrassing, esp when you know the girl at the till, we have 3 branches we use, did the same at all 3, nowhere else, have a new card now, no problem, except contactless, you don't have to be that close to the 'reader' for it to ping.

My wife and I have a joint personal account, she can use contactless continually, whereas I have to input my PIN every so often , usually at the most awkward moment!

It's cool if someone wants to leave let them leave.
People always give away pianos as they are a pain to move and largely worthless, people take them.with all intention of learning or that it will look nice in the corner but in reality your left with a big waste of space that you will never use

A chap i use to work with.At the end of the month he had to put his time sheet in on the last friday of the month.

Some months he would get paid on the saturday or sometimes on sunday.By this time his funds are getting really low.He is constantly refreshing his bank balance all weekend.

He sends several messages to his employer....I need money please!!

Monday comes and still not been paid.So he didnt turn up for work!

He spends all morning refreshing his bank balance and when he finally gets paid at 11am he turns up.

Trouble is after that episode the worker employer relationship was never the same.

I would guess that there is an agreement on when payment is due?
If it is friday, he shouldn’t have to look all weekend to see if he got paid or not.
It doesn’t matter if the farmer is good for the money, if he doesn’t pay.
in all my contracts it is clearly stated that my employees should have funds available on their account the last bankday of the month every month. I would expect them all to ask where the money is, on that day, if i didn’t pay on time.

Its endemic in all parts of the economy, not just livestock farming. Chap working at a county council mentioned some folks just not turning up on mondays etc, childcare issues was the reason.

To be fair I bet some employers are morons and deserve it. No sympathy for those.

The implications for the worker of not having that money for the month end can be exponentially bad.....
