Makita batteries

Anyone have a reliable source online for decent replacement 18v batteries? Bought 2 genuine looking 5ah ones about a year ago and 1 stopped working quite soon after and the other has packed in tonight. Still have 1 original 3ah which must be 3 year old.
Is there anything that can be done with the batteries? It’s strange how all of a sudden they just stop charging.

Ffx all day long, about £46 apiece + vat.

Cannot do any good with Powertoolsworld anymore, they will not leave goods in designated safe place any longer, and carriers they use will not lift phone to say they are at house, despite notice on door. Had 2 missed deliveries returned a bit back, dont need the hassle.

I get mine from Folkestone Fixings,Powertool World or from Buyerparcel on Ebay on the discount deals ,,just got two more 5ah for £46 each .
If you have the reciept for the duff battery ,ask Makita head office to fix it ,,they should be good for 2000 chargers

How much did you pay for these ' Genuine looking ' batteries ,,theres alot of extremely good fakes on the market and its difficult to tell between the two , fakes tend to fizzle out quickly as they haven't got the same protections built into them

If theres screw to open the pack get your multimeter and see which is the bad cell and change it

Not easy with the makstar batteries now. The batteries are inserted into a holder and then the connecting strips are spot welded on the end so holds them in place. Then you have to change the circuit board as it bricks itself when you have three failed charges. The aftermarket replacement boards are only a few quid but don’t have the individual cell protection.
having looked at one you can see why they self brick as lack of protection would mean overcharging the remaining good cells, something you don’t want to be doing indoors.

A T10 security bit will get them open.
Screw a small screw into the while plug in one of the screw-holes, pull the screw and the plug out and tamper away to you heart's content.

A double pack of 5A batteries is £109 inc vat. Lots of multibuy items on there.

Had the same thing yesterday, they'd rather leave it with a neighbour! They've been very good apart from that.

I've had old 3ah that well out lasted new 4ah, I had to send 2 back.

picked up 2 5ah batteries at local tool place, £59 each. Bit dear but thought I had better shop local plus peace of mind if they fail as easy to take back. Anyway got them home and tried to charge and they are doing the same false start to charge then flashing from green to red as my dud batterie.... went back today and bought a new charger so hopefully thats all thats wrong and now I should have 4 batteries ?

genuine ones are pricey if you cant find them on deal but are i think worth the premium just to save the frustration later , I have bought a bit of makita stuff from buyerparcel who are mentioned above who sell genuine stuff and are good to deal with they have presence on ebay and also there own web site .
As mentioned you can strip the battery and replace the faulty sell as a cheaper option , or all of them as the others are likely to fail in due course not done it myself but loads of videos on youtube about doing it on pretty much any brand of power tool battery
