Don’t think I’ll be drilling this before Christmas, wouldn’t be so bad but I see it everyday when out with the dogs [emoji849]

Rescuing sheep. (again). Never seen the river come up so fast before, we were away a few hours and came back to yet another flood. Sheep were OK, but on an island of grass. I took the old County crawler down to check if I could get to them if things got desperate. Got through but it was a bit hairy and we got a lot of water into odd places. Decided to leave them, as they had a reasonable amount of free board. But an hour or so later I couldn't see them, and very unusually they had waded through afoot or more of water for a hundred yards or so and were marooned in the woods in over a foot of water, right next to the river. Borrowed a trailer, waterproofed the County as best we could (pipe on the dipstick and breather) and chugged off down the rides, a lot deeper than previously. Photo was the only one I dared take, on the way back out. If you know County crawlers you know its pretty deep when you cant see the tracks. There was a time when even the bonnet was almost under. water over all the pedals and lapping over the seat. Hairiest bit is crossing the bridge down there, no parapets and under two foot of water, so no way of seeing where it was, aim for the gate post and hope! Anyway I got to them and managed to persuade them on board the dry trailer (god, sheep are thick). and lug them back out. A bit more of a struggle with 30 sodden (sodding) sheep on board. Anyway, all safely back up to dry land, for now, but even that is slowly going under water. Poor old County now in the workshop, need to drain everything, water in engine, gearbox, clutches, starter motor etc. Good job I keep these old toys about the place, I cant see anything else being able to wade through 4 foot of water on top of mud, and towing a trailer.

Only liked it cos I don't seem to be able to do anything else on my limited iPad. We were in London over weekend and shocked at how much water we came back to . Must have hammered down here . Glad you got the rescue done safely

A bit of a trailer repair this morning to a dump trailer that thinks it’s an eight wheeler wagonView attachment 848836View attachment 848837

Have done a LOT of them on Griffiths silage trailers. Used to cut them off, repair and re fabricate then weld them onto half inch plate on the bench then cut half inch off the box section hanger support on the chassis and weld the repaired part back on. The plate was around 6mm wider than the box section each way therefore a good weld was guaranteed on a horizontal plane!!!

Both sides were lost and for some reason the spring had gone over about 2" so pulled back with chain binder and made new hanger and welded on. When we have made new trailers I have always cut a square of plated filled in the hanger above the radius slider plate to stop the hanger cracking on the corners as this one has done
