In days of old when we were instructed by our betters that there was only one god things were simple. Whichever church we happened to be born into exploited mankind's innate need to believe in something to their own ends and anything else, apparently, was dodgy. Now with the collapse of the established congregations it's a free for all and I have already posted about the digital orientated belief system that appears to afflict far too many, so why not veganism as well?

It's a misplaced belief that eating food and wearing clothing made from petrochemicals is better for the planet
Much like the belief that the world was saved by an ark and pairs of animals, or that there's 72 virgin's waiting for those that blow up the infidels.

Seems clear that veganism is indeed a belief, according to the requirements already established for that definition to be applied by the courts. That's why this guy's recent employers don't dispute it: they sacked him for gross misbehaviour, not his diet. Sounds like he's one of those shouty types always looking to stir up trouble one way or another, so good riddance.

Is it fudge a hate crime! If he wins this, every restaurant, bar or eatery, will be forced to offer a vegan alternative menu. That's just not on. Not just the principle of forcing people to sell something but the botheration of segregation of utensils and things in the kitchen, as if there were not enough rules and regulations to follow already.
You could still be critical of them, just as we are free to criticise the church and religion. However, like all fundamentalist religions they will try and stop criticism in every way they can while continuing to evangelise and convert people using missionaries and every tactic they can dream of. This being one such.

No, that's not how UK legislation on religious hatred works.
How are you making that leap? No restaurant has to offer any sort of special menu to anyone. They can choose to do so if it makes commercial sense.

Because if they win this, it will surely be illegal to discriminate as it is illegal to discriminate commercially on religious, sexual or race grounds. You can be absolutely certain that they will go for this if they win.

First thing, I'll state that I know little about employment law, that said... this is an employment tribunal, I don't think that any precedent set in one is binding in the Courts as a whole, unless taken up by a judge in them. And... if this were to be accepted as the Claimant hopes, it could and probably would lead to a lot of other relatively 'odd' things being given the same status - that would argue against such a decision. But who knows? Whoever is running the tribunal may be looking to make a name for himself... 
couldn't meat eaters claim the same thing then, making it illegal to have vegan or vegetarian only menus ?

They could try, but all they'd achieve is wasting their time and money. Restaurants aren't forced to offer kosher or halal food, why would they be forced to offer vegan food?,
