He doesn’t want anything cute an cuddly controlling but he’s up for the human population being controlled?? The mans an arsehole with no concept of why the countryside he loves is like it is, ie... managed for generations to be shaped into the way it is!!!

I don’t see how this interview makes him dangerous and actually I agree with what he is saying.
I’m enjoying an interesting read at the moment regarding the relationship between Britain and France over the last 1000 years.
One interesting point, the Black Death killed 50,000 of the population of Paris, which at the time was 70,000.

I agree.

Although the OP is also totally corect Packham is a dangerous man.

Well maybe they should pay people not to have kids. Where do I apply?
Globally that would have the biggest impact on carbon emissions but it will never happen as we are wedded to the medieval argument that we need a rising population to look after the old folk and "keep the economy growing", an argument which will lead to standing room only if perpetuated.

The way it looks, the criminals keep on breeding while the more educated have cut back. A very depressing prospect.
Grandad always said the welfare state was the farewell state.

Isn't that the plus of veganism, unbalanced nutrition, leading to shortened lifespan and heightened infertility ?

Whenever there is a famine abroad the first thing you see on telly is somebody surrounded by their 10 children complaining that they can't feed them, so I'm not so sure if that argument is valid.

To which plague and early, miserable death do you nominate yourself?

I can't stand Packham, but I see little to disagree with in the OP article.

The world has too many people and it's going to be bled dry. Uncomfortable to hear, but we are using P, K, Salt, oil, gas, (to name a few) resources and carving the planet up into a mess.

I think super bugs will do the job of controlling population, and at the rate we travel around the world these days we would be pretty effective at spreading a disease to most parts of the planet.

All cheery stuff :)
