Yard drainage channels

You don't really notice all the different angles when driving across it and doesn't hold any puddles.
In a flat yard I perhaps wouldn't have as steeper gradients but trying to meet the other shed etc and make it fit.

Point drainage like this is still a great way to get the drainage you need to prevent pooling in smaller areas, It looks like a great job on creating the concrete falls as well. The only downside on this is the amount of cover the system can take from materials on the surface before it becomes blocked when compared to a linear or grated system.

Do you mean basically yard slop to block the grates?

I think it would do equally as well as a grated drain as holes are bigger and if 1 grate does block it would flood to the next rather than be a problem, just go broddle with wellie or if really bad drain rods out. It's only like something blocking a linear drain and causing a bit of a puddle?

Really you ought to run any linear drain with a fall which can get funny in yards especially near building with a level Groot, 1:100 fall that sheds 45m so 450mm drop?

I have a quite a bit of concreting to do in a yard and shall probably need to protect the front of a couple of sheds from water ingress. I have found these two different ways of doing this.

I imagine the slotted one is cheaper but maybe prone to blockage of slots?
Any experiences or ideas gratefully received.
we use a 180x90 channel facing open side up and outlet welded underneath then a 125x63 fitted in it with packers welded on leaves 2 nice slots full length and drilled in centre to lift out get them Galv its the only thing we have had stand up to industrial forklifts

So the 125x63 is face down, with packers on sides and bottom to get centre/level? The water then flows down the middle as well. Have you any photos? Could be good as we do fabrication and regularly send stuff to galv

I will see if I can find some ,Yes packer on bottom every meter or so and just use a slug out of the punching machine welded on the sides of the 125 to stop it moving about ,Some we have drilled the top with 30mm holes as well and you can create a silt trap inside if need be

Did you get any photos, just about to do a section of central yard as window appeared that we can get away without driving over it for 2 weeks. Has a manhole in the middle of it, what do you normally connect into to make a silt trap?

[/QUOTE we have done a silt trap before by cutting the bottom of the channel out and fabricating a box to collect any silt a bit like a road gully would do or you could simply weld a piece of plate across the inside is to form a wear and let the water over the top and then the debris settle in the bottom of the channel The one in the picture only has a slot in the middle to assist in removing the top channel for cleaning normally we would drill it with a series of 30 mm holes and have the sections about 1.5 m long
