Count yourself lucky in Scotland,in Wales our socialist assembly have stolen the money from us and are not giving it back!
And how are they going to use this money?, i read a report in the Western Mail, last Tuesday, which stated that the number
of AM's in the Senedd needs to be increased by an extra 20-30, up from the present 60, in order to deal with the present
workload. Add in the cost of a new offices/larger Senedd HQ??, and we definitely have arrived at the situation where the
sector showing the largest growth in the Welsh economy is - the Senedd itself.

I doubt the he will be anywhere near that limit anyway. Most of it is to go to LFA farms.
Surprised the limit is set that high. Will be interested to see what the average per business works out at. Be surprised if it’s more than a couple of thousand each but as they say, every little helps:)

Don‘t fancy one of your top surgeons anywhere near me @Still Farming
Even an average one is on £100K plus;)
is this 55k for the actual convergence cash or including your sfp? anyone know the £ per acre for region 1 land? its all been kept pretty quiet considering its getting paid out in march

It's £55k in total, capped as of this year. The remainder is going to be redistributed to farmers in Wales, as we will be on the lowest average sub level in the UK.....

That’s socialism....
Not really, if you do the maths:
Payment rates for convergence money’s.Region 1 £15.38/ha Region 2 £23/haRegion 3 £6/ha also top ups to beef calf and Hogg schemes .
Unless I'm reading this wrong -
Region 1, £55,000/ £15.38 = 3,576 ha
Region 2, £55,000/ £23 = 2,391 ha
Region 3, £55,000/ £6 = 9,166 ha
So only the very largest units will be penalised, especially so when you consider the large estates will have have anticipated and sidestepped capping after it was last threatened in 2014/15 by claiming for each individual holding on their land, not the estate as a whole as a single holding number ?

If it is £55,000 in total INCLUDING SFP then thats a different thing altogether...

Well guys I reckon not receiving the cash in the first instance to date has cost our enterprise in the region of £90000.
We will not be alone in the level of sums involved.
So having it capped at £50000 feels a bit of kick in the stones.
Saying that it looked like there was going to be bugger all so the cash will come in handy for sure.
Does look like it has been aimed at west coast, highland livestock holdings, and I bet they are needing every penny.

Tell us more.
WAG have taken the full 15% modulation, yes there’s been an equipment grant scheme however you had to spend in the order of £25k-£30k to get £12k back.

There are no hill payments,no calf payments and other than BPS (-15%) there are environmental payments generally not worth bothering with as you have to spend as much on fencing etc. to get the money back.

Luckily in Wales we have Farming Connect advisory service which keeps the palms of consultants well greased.

A couple of years ago when a lot of people's BP's was late for no reason,Carwyn Jones came to the Nfu building at the rwas to give a talk about something else. When thrown open for questions, every question was why the payment was late. After about six,he blurted out" If I had my way you wouldn't F#####g have any" and walked out. Sums up the Welsh assembly.

Fergus Ewing's statement on 23 Jan 2020 to the Scottish Parliament outlining the £55k cap is here:

The relevant part is below:

After years of campaigning, which was led by the Scottish Government and supported by this Parliament and key stakeholder organisations, the UK Government finally agreed to right the historical wrong of keeping back the EU convergence money. As a result, Scotland will now receive historical funding of £160 million, and I have already advised Parliament of my intention to split that between the current financial year and the next. I previously advised Parliament that that would be done in two equal payments of £80 million. Since then, however, I have engaged with stakeholders including the Scottish Crofting Federation and the Scottish Tenant Farmers Association and have heard their concerns about the need to ensure that more of the funding reaches those who farm in the most marginal areas. Accordingly, I announced a further package of measures for farmers and crofters, which includes redistributing an additional £10 million in 2019-20 to those who are in the most challenging areas, to be drawn down from the second tranche of convergence funding.

I advise members today that the funding will be allocated to those who need it most—farmers and crofters in regions 2 and 3, as is explained in the handout that I provided to members with this statement. The split of the £10 million will be weighted to region 3, with 70 per cent of the funding going to that region and 30 per cent being allocated to region 2. There will be no change to the voluntary coupled support component, which will be retained at £15 million as per my previous announcement. That funding will be paid by the end of March, in addition to scheduled pillar 1 payments.

I want to be sure that the level of the payments that are received by individuals strikes the right balance between preventing excessive payments and ensuring an appropriate level of support for larger, more productive businesses. I therefore confirm that a cap of £55,000 will be placed on the basic payment element of the funding, which will be the maximum that any business or individual farm can receive. Although there are no conditions and no specification as to what the funding can be used for, I encourage farmers and crofters to consider how best they might apply it.

ENDS.
