NH skid steer no electrical power

Help,new Holland l160 skiddy just cut out this afternoon.no power coming to the ignition switch or anywhere.tried the lights and horn and no power there at all. Fuses all fine.could it be the relay? Thanks

No,checked the battery.i’d just got out to cut the wrapp off and she died.

Broke electrical connection, either earth or supply. So check the earth straps from battery to frame and from frame to engine. Check for broken wires at starter and alternator.

Check there isn't fusible links on the positive battery terminal

Check the earth strap by the battery where it earths to chassis. Also remove the mudguard panels. They are held on with 2 bolts. Behind one of them (LH I think but been a while since I work on one sorry) are the electrical plugs that carry power into the cab. They either knacker the pins or Iv seen a couple completely corrode where the wires go into the plug.

I know it's not the same machine but our case1840 has an inline 30amp fuse under the seat in the wire taking power to the dash

I don't think it would stop the engine but would prevent it from restarting. The seat switch is in the safety belt button and costs an arm and a leg to replace, although probably costing NH no more than a tenner. Look forwards to a £600 to £800 bill if its that.

I've replaced one of mine, short term, with a dimple toggle switch that needs to be pushed one way to start the engine then the other way to activate the hydraulics. However, although it stops the arms if you leave the seat, it doesn't stop the drive motors. So always use the handbrake and get it properly repaired ASAP.

I’m not sure that’s correct. The switch your talking about is the seat belt switch there is also a seat switch which is part of the cushion itself. I’m sure Both must be closed to unlock the drive/hydraulics. Been to a few of these where the seat cushion has got ripped and water has got in and knackered the switch.
