Nope, he's not a diplomat, trade envoy or even an MEP; and, anyway, he wouldn't be much good at the first two. His role has been to articulate the dissatisfaction felt with the EU and then to mobilise the dissatisfied. He gets 10 out of 10 on both counts. For myself, he should be given a peerage - since they exist - and be allowed to crow about how right he was in his political career, just like the rest of them do.

You have been sadly missed... :(

Firstly, I'm not a populist, not in the proper sense - or spelling - of the word anyway; although I am a populist from what I take to be your meaning by it, i.e. someone who thinks differently to you and who's preferred political direction has been more successful than yours.

As for what happened in the EP today, I am amused by Farage, a bit, and a little irritated that he didn't hammer home a few more facts and give some cheer to other Eurosceptic parties sitting there. Thinking still further on it, I feel he should have gone for a much larger size of the union flag - I think that a good 20' x 10' would have been much better. :)
He probably deserves one more than IDS. That's true

The reason we leave on Friday is because the people voted to leave in the referendum in 2016.
No, the reason we are leaving is due to the ref, the reason it’s happening on Friday is due to the GE. I’m sure pretty much everyone who voted leave in 2016 believed we would have left long before now.

It was mortifying watching their wee flags and then to see the MEP's stand and sing Auld Lang Syne which was of course pre planned but none the less brilliant, making Farage and his cronies look like major twa ts! Given the EU's choice of farewell, I think it is not beyond the bounds to surmise that it was also a message of welcome to Scotland should we gain Independence.

Farage on C4 documentary. Talented speaker, die hard and passionate but totally outfoxed by BoJo and Cummings. Rather sad actually. Like a deflated puffed up souffle

It certainly should not have taken 3 and 1/2 years to sort out.

Personally I have no time for Farage. He’s a “one trip pony” IMO. His behaviour is no what I would expect from a human with manners and empathy. However, the issue of the UK and the EU has always been a rocky road of discontent. The direction of travel of the EU in the last 25 or so years has been one which was never going to he support here. Just look back at the Thatcher/Major/Blair and Cameron years when they all tried to steer the European politicians away from single currency, single law, single army etc etc. The result of the 2016 referendum and the last election isn’t a surprise of you recall recent history. It will be no surprise if other members follow a similar route when and if the world economy flutters again. We have spoken twice and as a democracy we have to accept it and make the best of it. I say this as an original remainer, so come on folks, let’s get on with life!

Got the job done though. (y)

Note the display of flags that was not, hypocritically, mentioned by the chair, @czechmate...

You'll not be claiming the Thicky Verhofstadt and JCJ were / are never rude, surely? And the ROI's own Lovely Leo has been bitching a bot too. :ROFLMAO:
