Machinery dealers and bad service.

I had the same problem a few years ago when I was looking to change the combine. Went to lamma looking at class and new Holland (not new) and couldn’t even get the reps off their chairs, both at class eastern and Aph which was a bit of a shame as I’d dealt with aph a lot in the past running a TF78 and found service very.
Ended up buying a John Deere

This fascinates me, to be blunt i think alot are going to go under as the futures not bright and machinery cost are going up, you would imagine they would be much keener

You’d think they would be keener! but having the chance of selling 10+ tractors to a veg gang that screw them on price is more appealing that looking after the smaller chaps that have always supported them since day one.

Herd people saying that dealers back in the day would do anything to help and keep a customer and couldn’t fault them but now the same people are saying now the familys are taking a step back and employed sales men and gotten bigger they’re s**t and have lost that personal touch as to say.

In the end it is people who deal with people and some are more efficient than others. As part timers we don’t even qualify as “small business “.
Bottom line is we have to be thick skinned and persistent to get the product we want, we expect to have to remind and text ....
I agree the internet has revolutionised buying and selling machines. Mostly it is a great success for us. Bought a drill on here. Best prepped machine we have bought in a long while.

My friend bought a new trailer at lamma from a dealer hed never used before.Trailer turned up 2 days later (free delivery as well) and the invoice followed a week later, from a dealer that didn’t know him, first time using them. . Now that’s what I call service shame they don’t deal in what I need as they’d be my first choice.
Why not give them a mention on here. (y)

Was at LAMMA this year and we were sure to change a telehandler. Run 2 JCB’s at present but though it was worth checking out alternatives.
2 reps on the Merlo stand couldn’t be bothered to drag themselves away from their conversation with each other to show me around a machine after I explained my requirements.

Hales of honiton it was brilliant service
Agree with that halse are absolutely brilliant. Still got the family feel to the business. My grandad bought a mower off of them in 2013 (died just before it got delivered so never saw it!) And over the past 5ish years we have had real problems with the clutch we have just been repairing it ourselves and putting in new clutches (not cheap!) Dad mentioned it to them and they were here the next week taking the PTO apart and took it back to their depo. Depending on the bill they may have done themselves a favour as could do with a new tedder really. Just shows that customer service does pay for itself!

Sounds about right, been there myself hanging about waiting to see someone, they did you a faver, your probably better off with jcb anyway.

I’ve just bought a new piece of machinery...one sales guy pestered the life out of me ringing me at least twice a week...the other couldn’t be arsed to even ring me...I don’t know which I hate the most...being hounded or not being bothered
If you can't decide then there's no hope for salesman. I've got one salesman never rings or bothers me when I want something I ring him and we get deal done I also know that some people he calls on quite regularly he says it all about knowing the customer he'd never sell to them he calls on if he didn't call and he'd p*ss me off if he called me all time, everyone's different

If iv decided I'm looking for a peice of machinery it's ten times worse not getting a answer back than being pestered

I enquired via email about a machine last year, no reply. I enquired by phone this year and got a brochure will be posted. Had to call again to chase.
Hate to think what back up will be like!

That’s what I’m starting to think if I can’t get them to do anything now what’s it going to be like when I need a part or something worse happened and I needed warranty work.
