US Election 2020, Democrats: Biden or Sanders

I prefer Sanders, I think he is genuine and has the mental capacity for the job if elected. I don't think Biden is genuine - he's a receipted liar - and am certain that he hasn't the ability to hold the office of President well.

Sanders would batter Trump in debates, Biden will probably not remember there is a debate... :banghead:

I don’t like Biden, never have. I actually consider him remarkably similar to Trump.

Bernie is getting smeared as a communist, completely unfairly - reckon it will be tight but he could win the nomination. The DNC won’t want it though.

I have listened and read articles about all candidates from all over the place, there is little that Sanders says that doesn’t make sense.

Smeared? Nah, it's the truth - he's got a long history of opening his gob and coming out with statements that place him at the far left of the political spectrum. From demanding the authorities seize privately owned businesses in his home state without compensation to the forced conversion of industry into worker-owned co-ops.

I hope you're right. Bernie is the only one that can remove Trump.

Joe was a great vice. In this day of personality politics, I don't think he has what it takes to win.

77 & 78 respectively

Pair of fossils.

Think I would fancy my chances of becoming POTUS if I was their running mate

Sanders is 79 also. Given coronavirus vulnerable age groups, given that Biden and Trump will have to address large scale rallies throughout the USA, I am just thinking of speaking with my bookmaker to assess the odd for an accumulator - none of those three make it to be inaugurated as POTUS in January 2021. I jest in poor humour of course.

For bernie Sanders is jeremey corbyn ,and he did well

He isn't but. He's an old fashioned trade union type who did raise concerns in times past about undocumented migrants taking American jobs, that's Republican policy 101 for decades.

He also advocates for government to stay out of the everyman's life. Which is libertarian.

He's more like a center left Ken Clarke tbh.

Sanders is pretty far to the left, but Congress can rein in his more silly ideas. A single-term of Sanders would see the US with a lot of common-sense reforms that succeeding presidents will prefer to leave in place, and a relieved population wondering why it took so long to get them. (y)

He is a socialist democrat. FDR was too. Would President Sanders be allowed a ‘New Deal’ today?

It's not a great choice is it. My answer would be anybody but Trump but you knew that anyhow

Do tell what you consider a relieved population could look forward to........this is purely hypothetical as Sanders at this point is a spent force.

I don’t understand American politics, but it seems a long way back for the democrats, perhaps that’s why younger candidates have not emerged? Could they be waiting for 2024?
I dont think many in the nanny state that europe has become understands the way the usa thinks, I have only been there once but had a few interesting conversations with people who hadn't had a good start in life but were dragging themselves up the ladder and didnt seem to think it was awful to have to look after yourself rather than let the state do it for you.

Hypothetically... coherent gun laws, joined-up federal infrastructure, healthcare that doesn't lead to resentment, rational environmental policies and the definite separation of religion from politics... just for starters. (y)
