Beef / Lamb & Pig Price Tracker

So deadweight firms trying to pull the job back, when live rings are a great trade. Darlington and Thirsk a great trade for cattle on Thursday. Wholesalers must be shifting it. Smells like these big abattoirs/processors are making excuses. Anyone else think it has the feel of F&M?
We should all stand together and say “f**k You! If you want them come buy them out the live ring!”

Really think it’s in our hands. Or will there be some selfish idiots that don’t stand together and take the poor price. I’ve really had enough of be dictated to. Going to try some big bullocks live next week.
Plenty of confidence in cattle yesterday at Hexham, were a serious trade. Couldn’t get any bought. Put my head in to try buy some rougher older sorts and not a chance.

Supermarkets and Irish owned abattoirs will be putting pressure on the government to close down auction marts now like in F&M, Then Larry and his merry men will be able to control the whole livestock industry. I hope people remember F&M and how it was selling stock back then, I still have nightmares about sending sheep to certain places!!!!!! We will come through this we are a resilient bunch, and with support the marts and the buyers that buy in the marts and those that sell in them will come out the other side.

i can quite see larry and co getting government support as the powers may think hungry people could get out of control if food spirals up to much, larry offering to keep a lid on supermarket cost . all that will happen is we will get paid F+M prices and joe public will still pay the inflated cost with processors / supermarkets taking a huge profit . They bit us once, do we want that to happen again ? What is the price in store of beef at the moment ? is farmgate price going up much ?
We really need to stand firm against processors at whatever cost and allow open competition with live rings,(even if it means holding supply to get point across) Fair and open for everyone in the chain not just the big multinational dividend holders ,

Fair enough we don’t want to get ripped off but this is not like foot and mouth , people are dying most have been laid off or are on reduced wages the whole economy is grinding to a slow halt , no doubt we have been stung before and will be again but please think, is this the time to be complaining about prices..... I would rather have no money and have healthy friends and family than worry I’m getting shafted by Larry and co

This is the very situation that subsidies are paid to agricultural for, we should be doing all we can to get through this and then hope our Union can go to government and make a stone wall case for the continuation of GB agricultural with whatever it needs to secure food supplies going forward, all of a sudden we are back in the game ,so to speak , so let’s do our bit and see where it takes us, maybe just maybe this whole scare will be enough to allow family farms(and other farm businesses)to survive and pass on skills to another generation, let’s hope that not only can we help our country now but that we can communicate the problems involved in our industry to them when the pain is still fresh in the political minds

Government will be putting pressure on to keep prices where they are , public won't appreciate any rises in a hard time they will see it as profiteering .
So we may be stuck where we are for a while , supermarkets and processors have their margin built in where as we don't.bummer

Nfu need to make this a priority. Farmers cannot be ripped off at this time of crisis.

I have been pushing hard on keeping marts open and keeping TB testing going.
I think the issue with the latter is going to be APHA staff processing test results!
