Spoke to a Skipton auctioneer last night as I've some empty culls to go. Yeah roaring trade huge demand, get them in.

I'm now on the way home with them. Didn't even unload. A drover told me price had dropped so I had someone value them in the car park.

Oh well. At least I (and they) have had a nice day out in the sun.

Good to be disappointed from an early stage in your farming career
as it wont be the last.
If the wheels have properly come off it will be an excellent buying opportunity .
Ride the wave.

Ffs this is bad news

Not really, unless you were selling today.
Export orders cancelled when the borders shut so demand stopped overnight. They will climb again once the dust settles in a week or so. Lambs aren’t there in any number, especially if everyone forgets the notion of killing all their ewe lambs.
We are in volatile waters, and nobody knows what next week will bring. Last few weeks have seen ridiculous, unsustainable prices. This week an overnight shock. In a couple of weeks it will settle somewhere in the middle, at a sensible price.

The people posting on here that the prices last week are the new norm, are living in cloud cuckoo land I’m afraid.

Mart was overflowing with Hoggs. If sellers didn't stay there's a lot of people in for a hellish shock.
absolutely, i take my hat off to GTH auctioneers , they may have saved me £400 ,, i rang after i got home and thanked them , many lots sold provisionally and at least gave us the option , i usually stay and see sold but came home today due to regulations and trying to do right thing .

Surely with even home demand as it is hoggs are worth more than today’s prices...
