Laser level

Send it to these guys https://www.zenithsurvey.co.uk/ they should be able to sort it out, it’s where I bought my Leica from !.
Sent it to them for calibration a year or 2 ago, came back way out so they had another go also did a cat cable detector and that's useless too not much confidence in them tbh.

That error code apparently does mean it can't find level.
From what I'm told the grade side basically works by finding level and then winding the set amount in that direction eg 1% fall in X it basically counts a set number of teeth on a gear to wind itself across as apposed to having an etched disc like a total station would?
May well speak with them recommended above it's been away to a non topcon specialist and they can't do owt but are easy to try selling there's ...

Which branch was that ?, I’ve always dealt with Lincoln same as a couple of other folks I know and they’ve always been very good.

Bringing this up again how's everyone getting on with the Fukuda levels the 205 ? .
We had a lend of a topcon yesterday for a bit of drainage and it was a bit of a faff to set with no remote control and Iike the look of the 205 . It would be for general drainage work house foundations etc .

I'm almost certain that's the model we have, get on well with it, decent battery length, easy to setup for single grade, sometimes struggle on dual grade, I think that's more to do with me not using dual grade very often.

Still love my 208! Has and does everything I want of it.

Cheers now we're gonna be doing all the fiddly drainage jobs as well a laser makes it a lot easier. The bit we did yesterday was a doddle compared to beforehand

We had a simple auto level one with no grade for years and it was good, changed to the grade one and as you say for drainage with little run it's brilliant.

That is the one that you see a grade on the level not with a remote ? Is it easy to set up for a grade ?

Yep, you can program the grade in rather than "make" it. All depends what you want to use it for. It does have a remote too - you can use it either way.

If you want to follow the land grade then a remote is just fine. If you're trying to level land to a set grade for others to follow or such, then a true grade laser is the way forward for speed and accuracy.

I also like the true grade laser because if ever the laser turns off for any reason, you can just reprogram in the grade you had......rather than having to go faff about "finding" the grade and laser beam again.

Just to pick up the threads on this...

I think my previous comment must have been blocked by the moderators as it included links. So here it is again without links.

The Fukuda FRE-205 is perfect for contractors who simply want a laser for all manner of general groundworks, footings, foundations etc... where you are solely working on the horizontal.
Like all Fukuda rotary lasers, it is also a dual grade laser which will allow you to set slopes and gradients in both the X & Y-axis. Although most users typically only ever grade in one axis.
As this is a "grade facility" laser there is no ability to enter a specific gradient e.g 3% fall - it all has to be calculated and adjusted manually. Contractors who only do gradients and slopes a few times a month would be fine with a grade facility laser.

From January 2020 a number of changes were made to the Fukuda line up. All Fukuda rotary lasers purchased after this date now have a 3-year warranty.

The True Grade Fukuda FRE-208 (referenced in earlier messages) has now been discontinued after many years and replaced with the new Fukuda FRE-203XT version. The Fukuda FRE-203XT shares lots of the extremely reliable FRE-208 internal components and builds upon this foundation to incorporate many new features and improvements which it shares with the other FRE-203X series lasers. It now has a new body shape, a better accuracy and a higher IP rating.

As the Fukuda FRE-203XT is a true grade laser, the user can directly enter a % gradient into either the display on the face of the laser or via the included remote control. It will then tilt the laser head to the exact gradient entered. This laser is aimed at users who either want the speed/simplicity of being able to key in a value or for those users who are grading every single day.

We appreciate this is a very tricky time for all businesses and so we have set up the coupon code farmingforum which will give you a further 5% discount on all products purchased.

However, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

I bought a Fukuda FRE203X from Laser Levels Online last year, I can't fault it and they're good to deal with. My friend was impressed with it and also the price and went and ordered one as well. The grade facility is a must and is much easier with the remote as well.

Really appreciate your comment jimbo69 :)

I got the standard one but recently replaced it with a Spectra one that gives you a readout in mm. The spectra is also waterproof, I discovered the Fukuda one isn’t 🤦🏻‍♂️
