Glorious autumn ( clear skies, cool start but warm day in the high 20’s C ) day here. With a lot of people off work or working from home, was encouraging to see quite a few people taking advantage of the day by walking or jogging today - in isolation of course. People are really being encouraged to maintain exercise & fitness, just do it alone or with family members.

There are lots of parks in Gunnedah, with no fences that can’t be locked down & a lot of walking paths. However, as I said, the Show Ground has been locked down. Most public toilets have been closed & the few that are still open have had locks fitted to them today so they can be shut down if we hit stage “red”. We are currently in “orange”, red is next & it is just lock down the sh!t on everything . . .
Cops are already starting to check on people moving around & questioning their reasons for travelling

Council taped off ALL play equipment in parks etc today

Could you not all have a word with your boss and say you want to go on the 80% shutdown option but if there is a problem that needs fixing you would go in that same day to sort it. Even if you did it unofficially without him having to actually be open? Would that work? it sounds a bit underhand.
What’s the word Roy uses at the moment sh!tcunt well he’s one of those sorts of people.

We tried the deal off if there is something needs doing he can call us but he wouldn’t have it.

He hates the fact that we could get 80% of government but he’s the owner and gets nothing as he pays himself fudge all to dodge tax like they all business owners do so now they get feck all back.
He’s just a fecking Shitcunt.
I’ll be fudged if I’m leaving though as I’ve 20 years in now for redundancy so I’m just gonna manipulate and rape him for everything I can now.

I think you will find you are not allowed to do any work whatsoever for the company to receive the 80% ferlough payment if your Boss ferloughed you, however he could ferlough different people for 3 weeks at a time and rotate this if the skill level permits - thus he can still operate and each employee can get the 80% during their 3 weeks furlough (furlough can be extended straight after the 3 weeks if he wished):

So, playing devil's advocate, in his mind (if one accepts it or not, I'm not saying either way), reducing hours is trying to keep his business alive here like many sectors are trying to do, but the option I have suggested above could equally help him remain open, cut his costs, and more importantly help keep moral up.

Also, if you have stayed 20+ years - he can't be that bad a boss or you would have moved jobs surely..

I cannot imagine a sign like that outside a British shop,

I know a number of businesses ( mainly agricultural supply ones that I am thinking off ) have closed their doors to walk in customers, but people can ring or order online & pick up their stuff in the drive thru area or car park

even the supermarkets have yellow lines on the floor & yellow X to show distance from checkout or how far to stand apart in queues

Sadly he has not replaced staff over the years gone from folk leaving or retiring so now there is only one in each department as such with no cover
I do all the milling/machining
Another does wire erosion
Another does spark erosion
Anybody else left does all the fitting/remedial work.

As for 20 years service yes I could have left and earned a lot more else where to the tune of £150 / week more, which he knows this also. but it is on my doorstep 2 min drive away. I take the reduced earnings for the flexibility of if there is a problem back home on the farm I can nip home / go early /come in late. Just so long as I make sure no one is waiting for work off me everything is fine.
You really need to work for him for a few months to understand but he really is a shitcunt.

Similar story here Roy. You could drive right through town on the wrong side of the road and noone would know.

Likewise, a cracking day, started off foggy as feck

Then cleared up and warmed up/dried out a bit

So I did some steeper sh!t

Then it started rolling in again and is now precisely foggy as feck again (y) and very very quiet

I had a truck load of MAP arrive today and the truck driver said it was his best trip through Melbourne ever. Hardly any traffic anywhere, although he did suprised me wanting a signature on his deliveree docket. I did sign and told him nobody else is wanting signatures anymore.

My sheep started lambing a few days early and are doing well with 10 ewes for 19 lambs so far. They were not due to start until the 4 th.

The lack of traffic is absolutely brilliant.
I can see why all the truckies in photos from the 50's and 60's had such big smiles on their dials ?

It's probably because the main roads were empty and their lives were full of meaniful toil, and sod all paperwork. I sowed just on 80 ton of super today.
