When this trailer was new, we had another 8340 (White roof) that would regularly pull it.

Prefix. P??? LSM. It came from Dumfries to me.
ABC123P came before P123ABC. Before 1962 it was ABC123, earlier 1234AB tracing back to A1 with a man holding a flag in front of your car. Used to be second and third letters gave a geographic location but that is shot to pieces by vanity plates (which you never actually own).
