Just off the phone with a friend of mine who is Finance director for a large agricultural machinery group.
He says he couldn’t keep up with getting documents done for people buying tractors and gear before the end of the financial year .

I don't see it or hear it from my contacts in the trade

New stuff cannot be shipped from factories at present

Ok if in stock or used

Thing is usually manufacturers say GB is a small percentage of sales compared to the rest of the world but this crisis is affecting the whole world so maybe prices will come back, we can live in hope.

There are a hell of alot of second, third generation fully paid for farms, who are investing heavily in machinery. There is also alot of development land sales money floating about.

Never understand why buying new kit is frowned upon on here, there is no better feeling then going out on a cold frosty morning and a newish tractor starting first time, or starting harvest not having to worry that the combine may overheat and set on fire midway through.

It is far more cost effective to invest in new kit opposed to having to employ extra staff due to machinery inefficiency.

Nothing getting bought this year, bought enough last year. Couple of years concentrating on improving buildings and the land. The only thing I'm half mulling over is changing a powerharrow but that will be in the backend of the year but it's looking very very unlikely

My tax planning and machinery order went to sh!t mid March. Assembly line shut down, salesman dropped off the face of the planet. Expecting another reaming from the tax man as a result.

And it needs buyers of new to feed 2nd hand kit into the system...

Just pulled the trigger on a wee Aitchison drill for game mix and cover crops and a move to more stewardship type cropping. Also to use for grassland improvements and some cereal drilling.

The graveyards are full of farmers who struggled with poor kit, if a piece of kit can make my life easier and less stressful as long as I can afford it, I buy it. Farm kit will always be a better investment in comparison to fast cars and fast women;)

Brothers boss just took delivery of a new tractor - perhaps ordered ages ago- he says they usually get new stuff at this time of year as the boss panics about his tax bill.

Some of them maybe in the graveyard earlier because of it.

A man beside me always said machinery was better than paying wages, as you could always sell it again.

IF
You can afford it
That is the question
Personally i would rather run affordable machines i know how to fix than put my head in an hp noose

We're attempting to do some buying but it's a bit rough out there.

Wanted to extend credit limit on a credit card to buy with some protection via mastercard .. won't increase the limit.

Financial system is useless.
