We had a PC130-5k, real good digger, left with 16k hours. Had a 130-6, good machine just not as good as the - 5k. Had a 2012 - 8 on hire for a month a few years back, what a bag of sh!t, underpowered, badly balanced and really hard on diesel. Js130 was twice the digger it was.

Hire machines often have their pumps turned down hence the poor performance

I think you’ll be the only person in the world to say a JS130 is twice the digger of a PC130.
A JS is fine for a farmers machine or a house builder but there’s a reason you don’t see them in any serious work.

Sorry but I disagree. We had the 2012 PC130 and a 2012 Js130 on the same mjob for a month each. JCB out dug the Komatsu, was easier diesel, was better balanced (which is saying something as I always found JCB not the best balanced) and smoother hydraulics, was far nicer to level soil with than the Komatsu. Havent owned any of the later models so can't comment on the reliability aspect. Have used a 2001, 2012 and 2017 Js130, done around 1000 hours on the 2017 one all in and found it a real good digger, no breakdowns In that 1000 hours, just a quick hitch switch failure, which is a Hill part. Da started out on hymacs then Hitachi UHO 63, ex120 etc and says that the 2017 Js130 is the closest thing he has drove to match the uho 63 for power, speed and niceness to drive.

@JPM . What did you do after
Its doing my head in . Always had JCB but cant find anyone whos got a good word for any after 2014 and some of the 2010 to 2012 had engine problems for over heating

@Forage Trader

We bought a JS130 2011 in jan 2017. It was ex Hewden hire machine when they went bust. There was a lot of them to choose from at that time. It was on 3700 hours when we got it, think its at almost 8000 hours now.
Really happy with it so far. Had an EGR issue but I just blanked it off[emoji51][emoji28]. A couple of other wee things but nothing major. Recently replaced the track chains.

Everyone I speak to say the pre 12 JS are good and reliable. But 14 on an nightmare and that included a JCB fitter and a rep selling them, dropped piston injectors and wiring problems.

So you think all the JS130s you’ve driven are better than a PC130?

Like I said, you’re the only person who’ll be saying that.

I don't think so, I know so. Not hard to understand. As said, the two Komatsus that we owned, a 130-5k and a 130-6, where both really good diggers and done a lot of hours, reliability was no problem. But the later ones just aren't as good. The dash - 8 honestly felt like it was a zero tail swing machine it was so badly balanced. Was really excited getting it too, thought it would be good, but badly let down.

Komatsu , Hitachi , Kobelco lead the field in that order , Hyundai sits with Jcb ,Case have a good name , but everyone says the newer models don't match the older ones in all makes
That's what I've been told . Not my opinion
