Get yourself an American corn planter and you’ll wonder what you did without one. You can get away with a lot less tillage and get good uniform spacing and depth as well as work rates.

I do believe horsch makes a good unit as well as monosem. But are likely very expensive.

Drilled ours this afternoon, gone in nicely going to Cambridge roll in the morning to conserve moisture

If the cobs go the same colour yellow as some of our maize is presently I'll be a happy bunny ?

Ha yes didn’t take very good pictures really apologies, trialling a bit again this year, few varieties prospect, Gema and reason from LG as well as free trial pack of duxberry and pioneer.

We used duxxbury in 2018 coped well with the drought

Agreed the american planters are far superior to the offerings we have in the uk

Yeah I’ll put some up. They make a good seed bed with accurate and uniform seed placement and covering, without having to plant into powder. Get a picket fence stand.

I’ll be happy with just cobs. This weather and crows could hammer crops this year.

2 locals redrilled 10 acres. They are pulling it up as it emerges and following the row. Seed been dressed with korit I think

funnily enough I’ve not seen a crow on any of ours,they seemed more interested in next doors grass and Spring barley

That is what I would do. Get someone in to inject with tanker and arable injector, that's your soil loosened to depth, then whip in with something else.

Mzuri is big money for what they are. Does work well though.

Maize must have good soil to seed contact, it does not need to be an onion bed but if it is cloddy on top you are asking to have fun with weed and crop emergence.
