Done 40 acres here with the normal combination drill be interesting to see how it does

Get yourself an American corn planter and you’ll wonder what you did without one. You can get away with a lot less tillage and get good uniform spacing and depth as well as work rates.

I do believe horsch makes a good unit as well as monosem. But are likely very expensive.

Drilled ours this afternoon, gone in nicely going to Cambridge roll in the morning to conserve moisture :LOL:

Agreed the american planters are far superior to the offerings we have in the uk
 
Cultivate and inject slurry into the strip and then drill as normal

That is what I would do. Get someone in to inject with tanker and arable injector, that's your soil loosened to depth, then whip in with something else.

Mzuri is big money for what they are. Does work well though.

Maize must have good soil to seed contact, it does not need to be an onion bed but if it is cloddy on top you are asking to have fun with weed and crop emergence.
