I’ve got a long stretch of old duff wall like that with a new fence up the side about as far away as that, would planting a hedge in the gap do any more damage to the wall?

I like that, tidy.
erm....eventually, falling timber might either bang into wall, or fall away and pull footings out mebbe. I'd hope what we've built would stick most of that.
We're planning to get some hawthorn/holly in that gap, as the fence might just hang in there for a few years...until they're stockproof.
It was the plan - to go and lift some volunteers lower down the farm...but like everything I plan, it went out the window with a lack of time.

Bit of patching by an amateur where the whole dyke had slipped. My regular dyker
gave it 6/10. The Craig Revel Horwood of dyking. Maybe Bruno is out there somewhere

Enjoyed watching this series of films.
Does anyone put a tunnel over themselves when walling in heavy rain, might blow away here. Always put a coat on here but harvest veg all winter so don't usually wall during really bad weather.

Years ago a dyking team had a home made gazebo type cover they could move along for shelter
How nice to see people spending time and money to enhance their land and boundaries.

Best memory from student days was rebuilding 2 chains length of drystone wall. That was June 1976!which for those that remember was a long hot summer! It’s still standing. I drive passed it once in a while just to check!

Suppose that the edge of it, could create a bigger problem, be great if it worked to keep the stone dry, muddy wet stones are 'orrible.
