Hands up who’s made a start?

Mowed 30 acres of new seeds today for haylage. Looked promising but bugger all in the bottom, was my best field too!

I cut 12 acres today and another 10 in the morning. I never saw the stubble so brown and the ground as hard in my life before. Crop lighter than normal,

Me neither but my rye for haylage has gone from 50% headed to 100% and the bottom leaves going brown in a week. If I’d left it any longer it would be knackered.

Wanting to make a start but new mowers haven't bloody arrived yet, may have to get Contractors in to mow the bloody stuff.

As in TAW - first bit of tedding this year, mown yesterday, it will be haylage but a lighter crop than usual by far, worried that it was losing greenness.

The stubble is very brown, dubious whether there will be a second cut so may as well cut it short and get as much in the yard as I can.

30 acre haylage baled and wrapped Friday, another 30 on Saturday.
Cut 30 acre of Lucerne today and cutting 80 acre for hay tomorrow so it’s bound to rain this week.

We have done some haylage and some hay, haulage good crop hay average to poor, one field half of last year? no other fields worth cutting and if we dont get rain not sure they will be, very thin in the bottom

Perfect haymaking year here this year. And good size crops after some big wet spells.
Shame the new tractor didn’t make it due to the virus.

We finished off our first cut silage and made a bit of haylage last week. The ground is so dry and hard currently and with the sun, wind and light crops it is making very quickly and easily this year. Also it's keeping it's green colour well. Made in under 48hrs, tedded just once behind the mower and also had some rain on. It's ridiculous how quick the grass is drying currently. Annoyingly it was blowing all over the place.

I wish my grass was as good as these pics. Last back end it was under water so lost quite a bit so reseeded a bit 6 weeks ago and still soil. Only managed to get one dose of N on it but cut a bit today as a test for haylage and was only half height it normal is abs thin. Told all my customers hay and straw be in demand this year. Iv seen people do hay but I think few week to early. Yes weather here but lot of nature in green hay in may, fire brigade on its way ?

Tedded again today, no way this will make hay before it is ground to dust, overcast and humid here, not hay making weather at all with ryegrass.
