It seems that not only do the Cummings have an autistic son, but that he is also terrified of strangers. ( Ref. Frederick Forsyth, writer).

If you have a bully for a father it may well be true. But we don't even know if his son is autistic, it's a large spectrum and it's not that easy to diagnose in a youngster the fist place, I am told.

How many scientists are there in the sage group?personally I think we have to start opening up the country now before the economic disaster gets any worse

Quite a few but the last thing the country needs is a second lockdown.
Let's hope the weather conditions we are experiencing at the moment
means the virus doesnt hang around so long.

I agree that we don’t need a second lockdown but neither can we afford to be lockdown for another month

haven't followed this thread, but, on the whole, farmers have been reasonably well looked after, in this c19 fiasco, mkts have kept going, kids were allowed to go to school, as we were classed as 'essential workers', a lot of encouragement, for furloughed workers, to pick, fruit and veg, the bounce back loan, self employed, even a paltry compensation scheme for milk. Is it a co-incidence, that both cummings {his parents are farmers), and the chancellor, represents a rural constituency ? Perhaps slating cummings, is not helpful.

I think that it’s a bit unfair to imply that Cummings bully’s his son or is anything other than a loving parent.
Having a little knowledge of autism I can well believe the difficulties the Cummings might have in finding someone suitable to look after their son if he has autism

And that is why I cannot work out why, or how, a strategist (Cummings is a strategist) and his erudite wife had no contingency plans for their son should both of the adults in the little family fall ill.

Throughout Cummings's statement was a running theme of the adults making plans on the hoof.

It does not compute.

Its near enough 30 miles.Splitting hairs maybe 27/28. You couldnt do it in 15

After he got there he later claimed he felt sick so had to spend time sitting on the river bank to recover. Obviously, according to him again, he then decided that the "test drive" went well enough that he could drive to London the next day. Do we believe that one as well children? Did he also not remember whether or not he needed to stop for fuel? What is the range of his vehicle on a full tank - assuming he had a full tank when he left London.

He really shows himself to be a "proper" idiot by editing something he wrote a year ago. Yet people still support him? So @Agrivator I do not withdraw anything I have said on this forum against him. His wife's writings do not match his later excuses either. So, how do you feel about her side of the story? Try putting the two together and see what the result is.

I didn't say he did, but he has a very long history of bullying people from a young age. As for the Autism, this story started from a single tweet to Conservative supporters but was subsequently deleted along with the user id. Make your own mind up.

It is also plausible that Mr Cummings himself might have some degree of autism, or some other syndrome. That is not uncommon in people who have exceptional abilities in some particular areas. And the same folk often act in ways which don't appear rational to us lesser mortals with conventional brains. ( Roy Cropper is one of my favourite TV characters!!!)

I'm afraid I can't empathise with folk who gleefully watched witches being burned at the stake, or lynch mobs, or Klu Klux Clan members. Or vile women who rock prison vans outside court rooms, or any others who can't show some degree of tolerance.

Or tosspots :) who can't admit that ''maybe I jumped to wrong conclusions and was initially a bit harsh''.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread, so this may have been covered already. I think that Cummings said that it took about 15 minutes to get from the farm to barnard castle. Some of the press took it as 15 miles, so a 30 mile round trip. Others had it as 30 miles one way so a 60 mile round trip.

Can anybody from the area who knows where the farm is tell us how far it actually is to Barnard castle?

I seem to remember he said it was ‘about half an hour away’ during his non-apologetic confessional.
