I reckon they'll have teams on this for months, maybe years trying to claw this money back.
We're starting to get bookings on the holiday cottage again, presumably because folks aren't keen to travel abroad. So the only concrete loses I've had ( which I can prove ) are the £2-3k's worth of cancellations early on. Are the government really going to give me £10k, when I've only lost out on £3k max ? I doubt it.

It was/is an emergency grant for people in genuine need due to lockdown, not free money if you happened to feel like applying. To be honest I can’t see that many in Ag would have suffered enough to warrant claiming outside of maybe dairy.
Thing is it is NOT over yet???
Everyone thinks it is back to normal?
Look at Germany etc.R number 2.8 and big virus spikes ?

I think when we all have to start paying for this lock down, that's when you might regret not claiming

exactly, it’s is hard working lot that will have to pay this back, not those who are addicted to benefits

They may well end up regretting that.

the gov aren’t daft, they will have all their employees details, I hope they get banged up for it!

Guessing your not a sheep farmer then?
Only a few. Yes wool isn’t worth anything and it costs to shear, but figures I was shown the other night suggested sheep sales volume weren’t too far off normal taking Easter into account, but I admit I haven’t looked at the price.

At no point was the level of adversity you had to suffer made clear to determine eligibility for the grant. Did COVID affect your business. ...... Yes .... then that should be ok. At no point was the level specified
I claimed a small amount, I couldn't get cattle away for 3 weeks because of covid, when I did the price was lower because of covid......business affected.

Its the price that was the important bit not volume of meat sold.

Anyway doesn't really matter we all know were going to be taxed to the hilt to make up for it.

Forgive my confusion but exactly what grant are you lot talking about?
I claimed a loan but that was always with the understanding that I would have to pay it back. The clue was in the name = loan.
I am self employed but wasn't aware of any grant I was eligible for. Don't employ anyone so no furlough stuff.
