What was wrong with the original Dynashift gearbox?
By all accounts it was pretty bomb proof and it gave 32 speeds. So Massey then ‘progress’ to Dyna6.
Can anyone please explain why the 16 gears of Dyna4 or the 24 of Dyna6 can be better than 32?
Exactly true. Massey sales man was busy tellin me last winter that dyna 4 was basicly the same as dynashift only the manual change was done electronically. After listenin a while i said if its the same what happened the other 16 gears did they just forget to put them in and sell them to the local scrap yard for the christmas bonus money. Kinda took the wind outa his sail

For those who dont know the speed increments was iam 100% sure A-B-C-D in original 32 sp dynashift anyways
was 16/17% but in 24speed D6 it was increased to 22% therefore you didnt need as many gears or so they thought anyways.
lets face it ive rarely used any of them 1st 6 gears for anything but all of 2nd & 3rd & 4th gears with all the shifts.
id say there just going to have 3 ranges in this new Trans & 8 powershifts there thats my view.
Will it be a Double Clutch? ive no idea if so its pretty much copying deere & cnh.

if it has 4 ranges then everyone will have got back the 32 gears with far more overlaps & 1500 revs at 50k
poss might even do 65k who knows??

Surely the 4 range would giv them a betr speed selection compared to jd or nh so would be a good selling point. Hopefully this new cab will have a lever for the linkage instead of that wheel and buttons. Same kind of thing jd has had since the 00 series. And a key in the dash cause thats where u naturally reach for it

i agree 4 ranges of 8 powershifts is where it should be
Dyna6 should have been improved the time its been out & given an extra Gear that would have made all the difference. & just reduced the increment jumps on the dynashifts....
Driving all Masseys trans offerings apart from current dyna4 (16gears) which is just a pish take anyways.
there is a place for fixed gear ratio's at times. its really idiot proofing certain jobs.
where as using a vario trans has benefits but some take some mastering to poss get the best out of them

In the 3000/6100 series the gear positions were reversed!
It was great in the 6200 series until some bright spark thought of fitting 'speed-matching" - change up a gear and the dynashift changes down to give an almost identical speed!
Dunno about you, but when I change gear I do so because I want a different ratio!

That’s on a switch though.

What's worse is john Deere then copied it ?It beggars belief how anyone thought it would be helpful.

if it is 4 ranges with 8 gears that be 32 gears in total, so maybe Massey think going back to offer 32. Gears is what farmers want.
