The vicon is making a very tidy bale.On with a bit of seed hay that was grazed till end of April.

All depends on what you call haylage. Some i would call dry silage will be substantially higher yield. Possibly 20% but my haylage is very nearly hay so not a lot of difference.How much yield difference is there between hay to hayledge? Less bales to the acre in hay but is there a rule of thumb between the two?
yea same here was fit for hay in 24hrs , wrapped it anyway (6 layers )as a few damp patches under the trees , came out fine last year when i wrapped dry stuff no mould , only 50% crop though . Another 7ac light cut to go , should see us ok for the winter .Just baled a couple of fields of fairish hay from a light cut, the bugg*r is, it should have been haylage...
But we are where we are, and yesterday and today were the only foreseeable weather windows, so we had to cut, and it's been scorching! It's only about a dozen acres, but the difference is huge between that stuff and some from just a few hundred yards away on a slightly different aspect. Well, that's the sheep catered for...
