Potentially 3m Hong Kongers to UK?

What a humongous load of testicles........
IF they were indeed YOUR people as you claim, why did you ABANDON them????
IF they are still your people as you infer, why don’t you do as MT did when the Argies sent a leaky boat and a handful of malnourished sailors with rusty muskets to the Malvinas?
Of course not .... the solution is to create an illusion of action. Let’s invite the whole lot of them over here .... (knowing full well the Chinese wouldn’t let them) and let’s call up our dearest friends and partners in the EU and have them crank up the EU printing presses to print British passports for 3 million Kongers who won’t and can’t use them. Perfect plan!
And while I’m here, the British lease of Hong Kong came about partly because Britain became the worlds biggest ever organised drugs gang, by forcibly exporting opium to China as a way of paying its debts for tea imported from China ...

Oh, don’t bother claiming running drugs back then wasn’t illegal as it was sanctioned by the government. That holds even less water than the claim that running slaves wasn’t illegal ....
It doesn't work anymore; that's a hard thing for you to accept, but it just doesn't work anymore...

We all know you are a sh!t-stirrer with a huuuge anti-British chip, that you lie about when it's mentioned, and that you're very worried about the ROI's position post Brexit. We all know that; some couldn't care, some think you're a bleeding idiot and some feel a bit sorry for you, maybe even pity. But nobody wastes time rising to your vitriol anymore.

So, your attempts to wind up get nowhere now, you're just the Irish fellow with the big chip on his shoulder, the one too thick to realise that virtually all the stuff he's blaming 'the British' for, happened when Ireland and the Irish were an integral part of it.

But it's amusing to read and probably keeps you from being a nuisance to Mrs / Mr Ashtree, so carry on. :)

In other words, you prefer not to comment further on the substantive points, those being the utter absurdity and indeed stupidity of the whole idea, and your own “lemming” like approach in blindly following the thoughts of Chairman Boris. Just as well then, as it’s well time you stopped digging on this absurdity.
Let me enlighten you a little further on the detail, which no doubt you quite over looked in your lemming dash to throw your shoulder to the idea.
Firstly, the “potential” three million new citizens are those who were born before Britain handed over HK to China! Therefore the older generation. Imagine for one second, that they all turned up say next year. NHS, housing, social services, etc, etc ....
Oh, by the way .... China has come out this morning and basically told Boris to “fudge off”... !
And Dom Raab, then comes out with his hands up, and admits China is correct, and there’s nothing Britain can do to give effect to the PM’s nonsensical plan.
I guess the moral of the story, is that when picking a fight, do it in Thatcher style, ...... pick it with someone who just isn’t big enough or equipped enough to win. Oh, and make sure as Thatcher did, to call Washington, to, a) get permission and b) get assurances that USA provides all sorts of logistical support and cover.

Glad you took the time to give us the morning chuckle. How will we survive that tantrum, wallowing, as we are, in our democracy and lack of fear of being 'cut off' from our economic milch cow, the ROI?

(Since you've time to spare, remind us how many referenda the ROI was told to have by Brussels :ROFLMAO:)

I loves it when you and the Tree get together!
Fortunately my little girl has given me lots of practice with this sort of thing. (y)

Did you know that ash trees have the capacity to slay dragons?
Happily, this particular ash tree is a pacifist by nature, and will merely check the marauding progress of this dragon in the forrest.
Have you noticed how deferential to the dragon, so many members are in here? All the fine words, and “near”, if not quite perfect punctuation, has them gazing in dumbstruck awe!
Somebody has to put a bit of stick about, and I’m offering my services in that capacity. All you understand, in the interests of “balance”, to the overall discourse.

Rename Immingham as new hongkong. Let's have all 3m here in Lincolnshire in a new megacity. Space for a decent airport here too. Special import export zone. Why not. I think it's a great idea.

I understand that Canada and co are now offering asylum. My guess is the highly educated, highly employable and mobile enough may well fudge off abroad- I bet some of them have British passports anyway.

They won't all come to the UK. Boris has merely said it to pish the Chinese off. Need sanctions from many parties now to make it stick.

Interesting post...

Deference to me on here? A splendid idea - perhaps you would suggest it to Mrs Danllan and the sprogs too - but the chance would be a fine thing; you need to read the posts of others more carefully. It seems you are confusing contempt for you with deference to me, it's probably the volume that makes it such a challenge. :)

However, everything considered, your natural deference to all is understandable, like the inferiority complex that fuels and explains your 'near' endless stream of anti-British vitriol, and your lies when denying it. And your on-going confusion too, after all it's the worst thing in the world for the UK to be a junior partner in a relationship, but for the ROI to cast itself as, and advocate others to be, a catamite of Brussels is to be celebrated, isn't it? Odd that...

I admit that my grammar is not always perfect, but the mistakes are more often through distraction (no escape from the children anymore), carelessness and fatigue than they are ignorance; I shall endeavour to persevere.

Most of us probably best know the ash as being the last into leaf and the first out of it (seems more french than Irish in that regard) and, sadly, for all being doomed... of course you are a pacifist, all cowards are, it's the perfect excuse for not fighting; problem is, it can easily be confused for appeasement. Hong Kong still has a lower standard of living than the UK and the money that is made is mostly due to it's strategic geographical location. Move these people somewhere else and they just become another set of refugees. My guess most will opt for Taiwan as the first option.

Possible, of course, but taking all into account, less likely for them than others.

And with respect to the kernel of the matter in reference to the faux offer of 3 million passports ....
oh that’s right, your logic deserts you. To be more precise perhaps, you didn’t apply basic logic in the first instance. Blind faith in the dear leader. There must be a great unseen, untouchable, intangible fog, which has descended on the populace of both UK and USA in particular. A fog which which hampers the mind, clouds vision, and manifests itself in normal intelligent people, getting sucked into believing any old populist clap trap, spouted by such luminaries as Farage, Boris and Trump.
Honestly, from the safety of the outside, the mind does boggle, and one can’t but be concerned for the great people’s of these great nations.
I remain hopeful and optimistic though, that Starmer and Sturgeon, can continue to shine a guiding light, and that in the end calamity can be averted.

Bloomberg seem keen to stir the proverbial . They should butt out and concentrate on things closer to home.
