Must be plenty beef again. Reducing bull kill at kepak. Will take them one week then backtracking saying they won't.

Think cows still going fairly quick, pretty sure dad booked some at start off week and they were lifted for kill yesterday.

I think the big supermarkets have probably put up a resistance to the price rise of clean, Tesco/Asda seem to have switched to Irish (which is probably partially polish) I can’t fathom out how even Morrison’s is selling scotch beef mince at £3.20/kg. Why they feel the need to sell something that should be £6 at least for £3.20 I don’t know. Other than it pulls folk away from the local butcher/farm shop.

The other thing I think we can all be pretty sure of now is that in general the food service sector is much more of an enemy to us than we realised. Virtually all they use is cheapest cost imported.

The lift in prices has been brought about by increased demand for uk stuff. If the food service sector had been using uk beef we wouldn’t have seen any price rise as there would have been plenty around.

We need the public to be as patriotic when it comes to eating out as they have been when buying in the supermarkets

Why don’t they take smaller profits
They are operating a disfunctional business model which is no longer fit for purpose. Aldi and Lidl are paying their suppliers as much if not more than Tesco and they are highly profitable,it has to be pointed out to Tesco that it is them that have to change not their suppliers. Why should we have to pay for their inefficiency.??

Always said it’s a mockery that meat origin isn’t mandatorily displayed on menus in restaurants etc.. such a huge volume of businesses / offerings totally unpoliced in terms of using foreign produce and in many cases giving consumers the impression it’s English..

Any of you loose money finishing beef in the spring. I see farmers in Northern Ireland are getting compensation.

Won’t make any difference and difficult to make restaurant labelling clear on a “plate” basis as the plate could contain multiple ingredients, many of which impossible to source from UK, as such a restaurant would get by/confuse/pacify consumer by stating “we source local British produce as much as possible, but to provide choice and value And maintain quality choices out of season to the consumer, then we also choose only the best suppliers around the world who can compliment our great British farmers”.... basically if you rely on comprehensive labelling to save you then your stuffed. On track - any breeding sheep prices from the early sales?
