Thinking of putting in a dip in the yard so I’m not relying or waiting for contract dipper as they are always busy, also would be convenient to throw in new purchases as they land! Yard where it could go is all concrete with natural slope to where we would site it so not a lot of extra concrete work would be needed! If you could design yours again what dimensions would you work to? Thinking long an narrow but have seen round bath type also, what length an depth would you have? Thoughts welcome please

Not much help with the design of the setup but however you do it make the tub so that it has an overhanging lip around the edge so when you throw something in it doesn't splash out much and go over you as much.

would the dip not go off if sitting around waiting for the odd. new purchase
know. guys here. would not. even think of putting in a pot dip any more most would look at better races

No worries with dip going off, plenty sheep to throw through it anyway and when buying store lambs an such would wait until got a good sized bunch put together an then dip in one go! Scab is a major issue here when buying in stock and dipping is the most effective way to deal with it ime, had the t-shirt for using injectables an not curing the problem! Pain in the arse job

If I was putting in a new dip(which I might well do next year) , I was thinking of a square dip with a pen at the side that would tip them in with a hydraulic ram. Either powered with tractor or hydraulic power pack.

If you can out fox them you cracked it , I tried most things . I would think an hydolic tipping floor would work well

Lifting cage design - a lot less stress on people and animals.
Have two draining off pens . Put a cable over top to let them out alternatively on a pulley system attached to exit gate with weights on exit gate end so it shuts itself when you release. Time second pen is filled it you can loose first out as they have drained. Just bought a second hand mobile trailer they are like hens teeth to find

I found quite an effective way quite by accident. I bought a conventional glass fibre bath of this type;

When I came to dig the hole I discovered the lie of the rock meant it would only go at right angles to the way I had intended. That meant that the sheep had to approach the dip from the side instead of from the end and the drying pen had to be on the other side. The sheep approaching would see the dipped sheep through the pen railings and try and join them, falling in after jumping. Worked very well indeed.
