Only once bought a lovely field of standing wheat 20 miles away. Never again. Asked them to phone me when combine due to get it baled as did not want to faff about with wet straw. Got a phone call from the farm manager asking when I was baling it as it had been lying for a week -in the rain by now.
Phoned their farm agent and got my money back.

99.9% ring or txt when the combines pulling into the field, even if its 1 o'clock in the morning!

And if a lot of rain is due, that's the time for a pragmatic conversation about chopping the 2nd (and not cutting a 3rd) headland swath. Beneficial to both parties.

£27 a ton ,in swath then they bale and clear it .for power station ,job ,
Our barley gets baled and comes back as muck , chop wheat

Been offered £10 a bale for barley straw, believe they are the three quarter Hesstons (around 420-430kg?) I'm in Hampshire.
