Robotic milking

I'm still impressed by the farms running robots and still managing to graze their cows. Do you still have to go out and hunt cows into the robot every day? I wonder if there is a system or something where you can just avoid/ignore cows that are overdue. Having to fetch them to go through strikes me as being a pain in the chuff as you are committing to it forever.

What happens if it comes some heavy/driving rain? How many cows end up back waiting at the robot? This would be my concern with robot grazing
Yes some might come inside, some might shelter down a hedge side, at least they not all stood in a sea of mud in the gateway looking miserable.
When the sun comes out again they clear off back outside. With the Lely grazeway system they dont have to milk before going back out, (they only need to milk if close to their 'thoretical' milking interval)
If its a really miserable day I have been known to stick a bale or two of silage out, to help maintain DM intakes and yeild.

how long did you have too wait?
2hrs. Felt like a lifetime, usually quicker but they were at another call. Annoying thing about it was I could have fixed it, was raging with myself. Just heard the noise and immediately thought seal in pump but ballcock inside was sticking.
Me thinks you put in the wrong robot ?.
I see the van in a whole lot of red yards. They all have their problems

Makes you feel like a right plonker when they come out and fix it in 2 minutes without even getting a screwdriver out of the van.:banghead:

How many parts do people source away from dealer? Can order a replacement pneumatic brush arm ram, festo, exactly the same ram £139.45 from festo wholesaler, from fullwood, £362.50, chemical pump Tygon tube, wholesaler £2.79 for 30cm, fullwood £30, i understand everyone needs to make a profit but it seems to be massively at the expense of farmers!
