What are the forecasts for the live lamb trade tomorrow?
Good trade ,I had £102 for hill cheviots on Wednesday. What sort of price are cull rams at the moment? Got a Lleyn to go, nice 6T ram but got a bit of attitude and his replacement is ready this week so want to get him gone before we pick the other one up.
What price that make them?
Similar to last week is my prediction. What are the forecasts for the live lamb trade tomorrow?
Sold our annual consignment of aged ewes out of the flock last week in Hereford. £7 up on last year not the biggest but probably circa give or take a couple of kilos 65 kg half to fair meat av £84 was happy with that.Tell them to put 7p on the cull cow price and you'll think about it.
Got 25 cull ewes in Rugby tomorrow, anyone sold any ewes recently?
Similar weights to mine, if I could average the same I'd be chuffed to bits!Sold our annual consignment of aged ewes out of the flock last week in Hereford. £7 up on last year not the biggest but probably circa give or take a couple of kilos 65 kg half to fair meat av £84 was happy with that.
So why would the USA want to send their beef here when it's worth more over there and with less resistance to it?have you not seen this ?: the cartels (larry and the supermarkets ) have colluded to keep our prices on the floor ,we are currently the cheapest in western europe
Can't see they would but what about Brazil and Argentina? So why would the USA want to send their beef here when it's worth more over there and with less resistance to it?
Same reason we export and import lamb despite producing about the same amount as we consume, carcass balance. They don’t eat all the products they produce, so sell the excess of what they don’t eat and import the products they are short of. Import/export are a major factor in what our buyers can/will pay for our overall product. So why would the USA want to send their beef here when it's worth more over there and with less resistance to it?
You might expect it to pick up. The next Muslim festival is at the end of the month.Nothing exciting but nothing depressing really just a moderate trade for cull ewes atm from what I’ve seen
Not get many thenUTM 353
It then farmers would pay £650 for the month old calf...Well at £4.50 they would be coming back at £1800 so £450 purchase price would be fine...I don’t think in this day and age £1800 for a well finished beast is out of the way
Very true can’t win either way.It then farmers would pay £650 for the month old calf...
My dad isn't a farmer, we skipped a generation. He's got a great saying "Farmer Logic, you can't beat farmer logic..." always says it when I'm grumbling that I can't afford stock or someone has just outbid me on ground by a stupid amount. Always makes me laughVery true can’t win either way.
Whatever cull ewes are making it isn’t enough, Done right and hung for 28 days and they eat as well as any lamb.Sold our annual consignment of aged ewes out of the flock last week in Hereford. £7 up on last year not the biggest but probably circa give or take a couple of kilos 65 kg half to fair meat av £84 was happy with that.
We could do with a bit more i am sure but when i buy the yearling ewe next autumn to replace its around a lamb and a half to purchase. We would pay aprox av 120 so when the cull is 80 i am not that upset. She has depreciated by 40 pound in 5/6 years. Albeit not all the yearlings would live till old age so you have to factor in losses to that. Tup costs 8/10 lambs thats not bad either.Whatever cull ewes are making it isn’t enough, Done right and hung for 28 days and they eat as well as any lamb.
Lamb trade Exeter holding up. i had 43kg in at £96.
