Private plate

Many of these plates were bought for an absolute pittance years ago, often on a car which was 100% of the value of car and plate. Not sure how much NFU1 would be worth, but it will have been a very good investment Over the last 10-15 years as the popularity has taken off

do they need it now ? could the money be better used or given to farming charities ?

buying or investing in number plates is not what I expect most members expect the nfu are for ?

You are not a member so it is of no concern to you.

that does not prevent me having an opinion and freedom to express it if i choose to however

this is not North Korea

My opinion is that valuable plate, bought when i was a member, has no use to the nfu or its members so should be sold and proceeds donated to farming charities such as FCN

Of course they use it - it’s a PR tool.

It is doing its job, free promotion. You're advertising them now, for free.
whats it selling?
maybe insurance ? if it is should be NFUM 1 surely?

if its the national farmers union .. literally, do you think it has retained members / recruited /will recruit more members ?

really ? so it generates more income than its value ?

i seriously doubt that, in fact i would say it sets entirely the wrong impression of uk agriculture........ ie we can all afford VERY expensive plates on our toyota pickups

sell it and spend the cash on REAL PR if that’s what members want ? or better still give the cash to farming charities and do some actual good

I remember there was a pic in 'What's New in Farming' of man with new van with P 155 OFF as plate. You couldn't buy that now, they wouldn't let you.
Was that genuine?
I recall looking that one up about the time they were released and it wasn’t available, maybe he nabbed it before me but my memory is telling me it wasn’t released.

I tried to buy P15SED off the DVLA but they wouldn't release it so I tried P15SUP but same result.
I did have TOM 808S years ago on a Fiat 132 sold the car for not much ,900 I think to a bloke called Tom Roberts .
Bet it's worth a fortune now if the plate is still about .
Tried to buy RHY5 for my dad back in the eighties but failed , if I remember correctly, back then it was in the exchange and mart for £280. Someone beat me to it .
