I couldn't see how deep they were , cos I couldn't see them , needs some yellow dye on
I used to tie the spouts up on my air drill and blow it out on top, then just run over with a roller , seeder rake , turn the tines right back with the wheels up so the tines a just stroking the ground , makes me cringe when I see people raking the soil to hell with an air seeder ,then they wonder why its slow emergening

I have found some setting in the ap for grass and slug pellets, but not for really small seeds. Ill have a look in my book at some point.

Thanks
I've not done anything with it on the funr setting but something still is in my head about multiplying by 3 to get the settings but I could be wrong @Farma Parma

I’ve never had that asked before but my only concern would be that you’d need to keep mixing it in the hopper a bit as the small seeds will separate in any sort of hopper as the level drops, but I have a customer who has just down swedes with the Kv combi drill Mixing them with slug pellets..has come very well!

In my Vicon to do that you have to remove all the vanes to fit the calibration hopper.

I’ve got one but never used it to be honest.
I’ve got a static calibration sheet kicking around somewhere if it’s any help. I know it’s a bit of a pain having to take the vanes off, but it’s probably a good investment of time.

I normally spread stubble turnips with the quad bike and by Bullock slug pelleter.

Doing two passes at an angle and it works OK.

But this year I need to put in nearly 70 acres worth of turnips and it would take an age with the quad bike and prob not be that accurate.

I do have a 2 year old Vicon RO-XL spinner that has a small seed kit on it but not spread tiny seeds with it. ( dont want to do a Top Gear and spread the lot in 10 seconds!!)

I have heard of some one local mixing the seed 50/50 with Tiger Sulphur prills:

That comes in 25kg bags and I would only need about 6 or 7 bags of it if I spread the seed at 2kg an acre into worked stubbles and then rolled after.

Any one tried anything similar or used a fert spinner for sowing turnips/fodder rape?

What sort of width would the seed spread to? Id probably do 10/12m or so I guess
It works but got to mix in with cheap Italian or similar, but will only spread 10-12 feet ,not metres.

I have done it every year with the ZAM and fertiliser and spreading to my wheel mark.the seed dont seem to sink to the bottom but I would get a shovel after every 5 or 6 acres and give the mix a bit of a twirl. I have seen the small seeds germinate on concrete, I am of the opinion that alot of seed is smothered so the lighest covering you can give it.
