Will the eat out to help out campaign help prices?

A steak normally 20 odd quid up here. I generally don't have 1 if out with a group as feel its unfair on everyone else me having most expensive thing on menu.

If I can get a tenner off and its £12, hey I might just push the boat out and have a steak!
Or two!

I've been kicking fert about all afternoon and that's all that's been on hart radio is that the restaurants are fully booked up until the end of the month around here and everyone is going to have a steak and raving about the £10 vouchers.

This hype and people getting excited must be good for our industry.

Between now and the last day of the year the sheep trade will continue to be very good.
The World is short of sheepmeat.
Australia has suffered from drought and has found new high value markets.
NZ has had the worst drought for a century in the North Island and it is thought that ewes tupped could be down by a third and also has new high value markets and their prices are mostly on a par with ours.

The population who appreciate lamb and mutton continue to increase .
The pound against most currencies is weak, especially the euro.

However we are in the hands of politicians and a government that is hell bent on leaving the EU and a NO deal is looking much more likely than a deal which will leave us in the same place.

All I do know is that any tariff and disruption to the free movement of goods has the potential to seriously knock the price of lamb.

At present what were proper store lambs and not those that were killed for the Festival are only around £8.00 more than last year, or they were at Ashford on Friday, which still looks realistic, especially for the stronger lambs that will go by New Year.
I think this virus will knock any no deal on the head I really do. Either side just can't afford a no deal. Imagine the the uk treasury trying to keep the country afloat with the financial effect of coronavirus & a no trade scenario......? I'm now v v confident a deal will be done last minute simply cause either side simply can't afford not to.......

lol i do ! i need best part of £100 a lamb to make a living here , and i outwinter all my flock on keep inc 100 rams , theres a place for store lambs but industry cant really afford a whole layer for most lambs for long , most of continental europe is practically zero store lambs , so more is invested to finish lambs on place of birth and why continental breeds of all stock finish better than uk ones
That's a broad statement, plenty native breeds finish fine. Sheep, cheviots, blackies, maybe not swales... All finish off grass. Find it harder to fatten texels than chevs. Also cattle, surely native stuff finishes a lot easier than continental breeds??

ahh but not going overfat (sheep) , yea plenty of down breeds finish ok but run fat if you miss the weights , continentals tend to have a much wider finish mark ,better meat yeild , better ko% (finer bone) which gives flexibility in marketing . the big boned / framed suff only came about because of the store sales and were eye candy for the buyers , why do you think they dont have the same type in NZ ? , dont worry the continentals are going down same road now .

True but I've found texels hard to finish.
Suffolk must be one of my least favourite breeds, soft, don't finish and sh!t like a holstein giving 9000litres and the nz variety looks like a Suffolk mule...
