Anyone heard about Newark Livestock Market!

See post 159 +170. Unfortunately l have heard far to many times that mr Teflon( as in non stick) Edward Swindells has secured the market. Hope to be proven wrong.God forbid if it’s right as it will definitely be the finish of Ncm.please somebody put us out off our misery
That's certainly what a former regular Newark vendor told me last week too, He was disgusted and will continue to use Darlington (doesn't like Melton) and says better price covers the extra travel cost (and he is south of Newark).

Nail on head springs to mind. All very sad when we need livestock markets to help set the price,it hurts me to say this but if said incumbent is anything to do with it l would not support, buying or selling.Dont agree with his business practices or animal treatment.Lets hope it’s wrong.😂😂

It is sad if true but you can still support the livestock markets, just have to use others.

Good Morning All, I write on behalf of Town and Country Property Auctions, In regards to Newark Cattle Market we had an interest in the market however never took this any further. We have no association with Edward Swindells after a bad experience of our own with him. The council have been in touch with us to inform us that that have refused to allow Edward to take over the cattle market. hope this clears things up

I was talking to Mark Philips of Philips Animal Health the other day. He says that at £25 a night for Lorries on the side of the A1, with 2 good Cafe's and other facilities the council are pleased at the Status Quo. They are really raking the money as it is relatively secure. He thinks it will never be a market again.

As the council own the site they would not want a long term tenant such as a cattle market as the site has develop opportunities, iirc there was a charter to say they had to provide 'a site', if it ever gets going again it will have to be on a greenfield site, also Melton and others now taken their trade

Have heard it’s going to be knocked down and an air museum built there. Definitely won’t open up again as a market.
