can’t see any combine setting any records this year - to do that you need high yielding, short strawed crops in very big fields
having seen one up close in the usa and again at agritechnica the x9 is a absolute monster though - i predict it’s going to make a big lexion look like the support act !

I watched local mega JD farmers Waldersley Estates at work a couple of days ago with their Five S series JDs (690s &790s) and they desperately need the X9 model to reduce the circus in the field. Maybe three X9s could do the job currently being handled by the five S series units.

Every jd ive tried over the years has been the same, good output in very fit wheat but very mediocre in every other crop and obliterated the straw. They really struggled with any green or thick straw and terrible losses in rape. The x9 could be different? .Dont be fooled by the promotional video, open everything up leave the stubble high and you can go as fast as you dare for the benefit of the camera, every brand and demo is guilty of this.
Combining is doing the best job while maintaining acceptable output and losses, it seems its become a “look how fast i can go” competition.

Maybe but by Christ he’s shifting in the Doubleday video.. anyone pitched 1 against a 8900 or 10.90 yet?

Went out for a short drive locally this afternoon and came across John Deere X9 in the field with a pair of S690s.
Smashing looking Combine I must say, mind you it wasn't hurtling across the field like in the rapeseed video. It was a little bit quicker than the 690s and pushing a bigger 40ft plus header, but probably not shifting 100 tonnes in the hour I was there, mind you probably one of the farms drivers having a go in it.

A local 780 user has been and used one somewhere and he said in wheat it was a direct match for a 780 the couple of hours he spent on it in terms of output. But he did say it’s the nicest combine he’s ever sat in and the technology looks to be the best on the market. Extremely refined were his exact words. He’s got a new lexion coming on demo and was hoping they’d get the x9 on the home farm at some point this harvest. I’ll tap him up as I thought he was a member on here.

Well I expect the three big JD users in these parts who each have 4 or 5 of the 690/790s machines will all buy an X9 for next season but the real tell for me will be another big farm near Kings Lynn who have several JD tractors plus three 6 year old Claas 780s and farm land situated all around the local JD dealership

Well Ollie as you are probably aware there aren't any british built Combines anymore and JCB and New Holland tractors are really only assembled in the UK from parts bought in from around the globe. Maybe someone can refurbish a large old fleet of Massey Harris combines, about 50 of them might keep up with an X9, but probably not

Ah so that's ok then! I'm glad no one has had a coronary over the photo what with the German combine, tractor and trailer. I'm glad, I've always felt the complaints about patriotism on TFF a big weak personally.
