These are the ones I'm doing the lime trails on
I'm ashamed to post this , could not believe how low they had dropped , the farmer who was grazing them had been topping them up with prilled lime , when I stopped growing wheat there I had them up near 7

Bu for anyone who is interested , I have tested a 90 acre block , after next cut of silage I'm spreading 3 liming products , re sampling in a years time , the man who does the sampling works for adas so totally independent,

Three products, one block, one set of tests. Good on you, and will be interesting to see the results, but I'm reminded of the old saying "evidence is not the plural of anecdote".

Be aware that the application accuracy, sampling system, testing regime etc. will have so many margins of error as to make the actual data incredibly questionable on a scientific data. Good to watch, sure, but don't claim it as anywhere near as credible as a proper trial.

Will basic slag be one of the products used? Just been liming for a neighbour who’s used it for a number of years and was really dissapointed when he tested the fields a few weeks ago and the ph was 5.1-5.2.

Morning you two lime men, those samples were taken down to 6 inch , is that normal for grassland
Arable we test between 1 and 6 inches like Pete says. Depends on the situation. For min till/no till growers several of them now want results closer to the surface where the trash on the surface seems to acidify the top few inches over time.
For grass we tend to sample at about 3" as it takes a lot of time to get lime down to 6" with no cultivation to move it.
