Here's the rolling 7 day figures for the same nine (not ten) countries, which shows those countries that have had earlier outbreaks but have now got a hold on things and those that haven't. That's my worry for USA - around a thousand deaths a day still, and increasing rather than decreasing.

and they admit that it may be wrong

None of the absolute numbers are certified, which is why it is dangerous to make close comparison between countries as they often report things differently. The trends in data are perhaps less vulnerable to incorrect interpretation though, which is why the second graph is all the more worrying.

As a comparison, here's the same data source for the UK.

I guess the question is what did we do differently in June/ July, as that's where the shape of the two plots differ most obviously.

Its not good but they never really shut down that much, they have to keep going and fight through it. The main reason other countries shut everything so quick is governments didn't want the blame for the health system failing.

America seems to have avoided a failure so far and many people are just getting on with their lives, because they have to. They just add Covid to the list of things that can get them and move on.
What else can you do?

I agree but what's the alternative?
Do you think Biden will change the lives of the average American? Do you think Trump has hurt the lives of the average American?
I don't know who I'd vote for, I don't see either of them doing any good.
I probably wouldn't vote at all, on the other hand the devil on my shoulder says I'd vote for Trump just to watch the fireworks.
I genuinely think that's why he gets votes.

I note this morning Facebook has suspended the Team Trump presidential campaign account for posting false information - namely a video interview with Donald Trump in which he stated children are immune from CV19.

And then Trump supporters have said evidence of corporates having a go at him. What a state of affairs.

Trump’s statements are incoherent gibberish. How could anyone interpret them as anything other than misleading?
By looking for the gibberish above the rest?
Rather his gibberish than the get out of jail free, multi directional, wriggle room, lawyer speak that most politicians employ.

They're both old men and Trump seems to be getting slower every time he emerges from the White House.

Has the greatest country in the world not got anybody to run it apart from a couple of OAPs?

You are comparing US with UK on your graphs.

UK imported covid to every area asap to build Herd.

US stopped flights to an extent. So Covid was spreading out from there international airports. So when UK was at peak 1,000 a day US was 2,000 a day but only parts of the nation were infected, now it’s slowly spreading to all areas the numbers are bound to be growing.

IMO it's just down to Trumps base supporters, the white, middle aged, blue collar workers totally get the simple messages he peddles. That their lives will be transformed if immigration is stopped and people are deported en masse, if China is brought to account, if all left-wing sympathisers are jailed and the police are allowed control the streets without accountability. It's something they can relate to.

and would they not ?

Nothing like scaring the sh!t out of the population in order to win votes, he would insight a civil war between American citizens if it handed him the job for the next term - and blame Biden, Clinton and Obama for the casualties..

Seriously why have they put this Biden guy up against Trump ?

He comes across as spaced out. A few cards short of a full pack.

Or is he there to capture the never trumpers vote, then they flip him for a hard left candidate Based on ill health ?

Biden is not my man, he is a centrist 1000 watt smile, befuddled, burred edges, over friendly, name dropper, more of the same, establishment, outdated, and traditional U.S foreign policy advocate.

But...

If all he does is sleep for the next four years he still will have done a better job than President Trump.
