Carmarthen Mart

It's sad really, I've passed that mart this morning all chained up and on the way down to Whitland to what would have been Carmarthen's biggest sale of the month "weand calf sale".

I hope everyone gets paid who is owed and bjp can start up again and get a second chance.

Interesting in the news clip the reporter says two people have left their positions and the company is under restructuring.
No one has left, the report is heresy

In Hereford with a 1000 cattle in if u got barren cows and yearling cattle it can de a looooooooooong day as they sell barren cows cows and calves breeding bulls feeding bulls then yearling cattle
Especially as once the sale is over there's a mass of people trying to sort and load their stock, with limited loading, bays because of buyers who've parked up in the bays before the sale started, and seemingly disappeared once the sale is over.
Getting to prefer smaller sales where you can get in, buy, get loaded and get out.

I heard yesterday (from someone who heard from someone else, so classify this as hearsay) that Bob Jones's family still owned the land under the mart, which Bob had leased to the council to built a mart, which they rented back to BJP! That's why there's this delay now as the council and the family are negotiating about the value of the land.
It is definitely heresay, the council own the land and lease it to BJP.

It may be a natural place for a big mart but BJP still managed to make a mess of it. Perhaps a little less arrogance and a bit more work attracting buyers an sellers and it would have worked.
Or possibly the everyone paying what they owed BJP, they are owed an absolute fortune by farmers that were given credit accounts in good faith and then did not pay

Unfortunate circumstances really but once credit limits were reached surely someone should have being chasing money not giving more? Quick enough to give credit should be quicker going to chase it aswell

Sadly a lot of trust was given to some local farmers, which was then thrown back in the company's face, chasing is all very well but if people want to screw others over then what can you do. Someone even cancelled a cheque for over 50k once they had handed it over, its not all about the credit accounts

And what action has been taken
Solicitors and courts have been involved, however even then that doesn't always work, one farmer's bankruptcy cost BJP over 50k recently. It is never just a simple case of a company not paying. If BJP and other marts only worked on a payment up front basis then there would be outrage, yet then when customers refuse to pay, it is the companies that are in the firing line, how is that fair

I only repeated what was said on a national news bulletin.

People haven't mentioned that farmers owe money perhaps because they don't have evidence?
No, its because BJP didn't want to

People are only mentioning what helps get their point across whether they have proof or not, i do know that BJP has no interest in humiliating individuals by doing the same

But if H&H didn’t do their job properly then local farmers would move their custom to Wigton, Penrith or wherever - the location would take a back seat to a good trade and prompt payment.

that would only ever be temporary. If H&H went strong nobody else would boss the job from that Mart.
