we had it a couple of weeks ago, came in the yard and saw a builders merchant in one of ouf fields trying to unload some big bags, stupid part is had they asked it wouldnt have been a problem as there is a grass strip round the field, the stupid house owners always say oh we dont know where you live, you can plainly see the farm from this house across a 17 acre field .
Its all part of the joys of urban fringe farming, BUT having lots of people with money nearby has its advantages when renting our small units/containers of stables etc and there is always the option to sell for building if it gets that bad,

I used to work for a dealer and one day went to a break down on a small baler, field on the edge of a rough housing estate with a large drain on field edge, had to grab bale as it come out and stack on trailor as kids were using bales to float down drain then running back and getting another.

It's sad I role my eyes at my mum moaning about people turning on the drive and cyclists flying down the footpath. People will push and push if you dont push back

My sympathies to anyone who farms on the urban fringe.
I have seen the ball ache first hand as a youngster when my Father and his brother farmed next to a 'New Town' (unamed). Trespass was pretty much the norm, crop damage was a given, fires of crops were common as were traps dug for machinery! Baling, stooking and carting of straw had to be performed with military precision otherwise every string of every bale would have been slashed. I'm probably portraying the worst case scenario but it wasn't particularly pleasant as I remember. This was the late 70's/early 80's ... but it would seem very little has changed in some peoples attidude towards farmland.
Yes my family endured that sh!t , we migrated north, life to short to have to spend it dealing with crap all the time.

Be interesting to know how it happened. Did the builder just crack on and hope or did the customer tell them they had permission?
Who you trying to get money off ? The home owner or contractor?

our posh neighbour, installed a tennis court, the contractors leveling the site, cut our fence, rolled down 1/2 acre of maize, then denied it was them, nieghbour said it was my problem, till he wanted a favour, they paid within 48 hrs, full amount, and agents fees, neighbours a london barrister, in all fairness, he was told 1 thing by his chap, and it wasn't until he saw it, he acted. But the contractors, basically said, f### off, take us to court !!

they are currently “raising funds”

it’s FBT land - the owner has instructed me to deal with it for him and told me I can keep 50% of whet we collect plus repair cost

We have a LOT of neighbours ! would be interesting to work out but there must several thousand properties backing on to land we farm
I have a fair few too. Many of them throw their sh!t out of their garden into my fields and a lot want a bit of land for a garage parking space caravan etc.
