What we gonna do once these antibiotics stop workin. Iv tried them bolus things for mastitis and ther hit and miss but . How could ye keep cattle especially holstiens if ye had nothin to jag them way

I was told that if you use the bolus for mastitis you still need to keep the milk out as putting it in the tank simply rises your scc and therefore losing your scc bonus or even worse hit a penalty .

Iv used boluses and cant see much benefit. The man that sold me them said it could be 2-3 months before scc goes down but what good is that

Think the british fresian is the way to go. Iv fresians and holstiens and the fresians giv far less trouble and will milk everybit as good

high scc cows need culled. At best dry them off and any mastitis or high scc early doors and they are gone.

I’ve no friesians here, a few Holsteins left, mostly fleckvieh now , can’t say the Holsteins we have give much more than some of the fleckviehs although we aren’t piling the meal into them
Meal is the problem, if you start pushing 3 ton+ into cows the breed is largely irrelevant.
