Send it, and have last year's balance. Got the lambs' wool to go next, home here, but that will be taken in, too. Just can't trust the shippon roof atm, so it can't go up in a tallet.

Got space to store mine so I will. Worst case I will compost it, it will break down eventually. The nutrient content alone is worth more than the pittance on offer this year!

We don't know how much they're getting for us this year. Remember, the board sell our wool on our behalf and pay us the proceeds afterwards - they don't buy it off us. By all reports, the sale is going okay again, and they expect to have a decent price once all is done. Don't be put off by reports of small payments this year - that's a reflection of last year's sales.

I had a “debate” yesterday on Facebook about this. IMO the biggest criticism I have of the board is that they don’t explain to farmers wgat they do. There are some very naive/thick people that just don’t get it

I get a paper leaflet that tells me, by post, every year, plus emails. And they have a website that says it too, plus attendance at all the major Agri shows. If people are not prepared to read or listen, what more could they do?

There is a school of thought that non wool board suppliers are not necessarily thick or naive but just have a difference of opinion to those that chose to supply the wool board. It is arrogance to think otherwise. Me personally wouldn’t like to comment 🤫

If you want to gamble, store half of it on farm - if you have somewhere to store it.

If you can't store it and are happy to let the free market find it's price, give it all to the BWMB to sell over this coming winter. (sales prices so far are climbing back to where they were pre c19)

If you don't want to do either of these, but still sell it this year... get yourself a tube of lube before you drop your trousers

I agree. The Wool Board talk about almost nothing else than how they operate. Some sheep farmers just seem to be too dense to understand.

It’s like a livestock market, but for wool.

The livestock market don’t buy your sheep, they market and sell them.

That’s the best analogy yet!Brilliant I will remember that
