We need calcium lime.

But on urban fringe land, high up with never ending wind. Its a total nightmare.

Far worse than spray drift which we can control by been on standby all daylight hours & working off the sheltered fields, when it is just breezy.

Anyone about with booms on spreaders? We had them for the first time this spring and were pleasantly surprised how little dust blew away.

Calcium lime is so good.

Could it be spread with a metered machine, straight onto the ground.
Similar to how potato fertiliser is spread onto the raised beds.

Local contractor has those here too. Not seen them in person but seems a logical idea.

I'll admit we use it, to get veg land where it needs to be quickly. Also it goes so following potato crops not scabby.

2012 neighbouring farmer spread some on a Saturday morning, dust all over! Loads of complaints by nearby houses!
2013 planning application! More complaints!
2019 350 houses built everyone happy!!

It can be a bit of a pain in certain places.

Best thing to do I find is to slow disc speeds right down. It means driving closer together for a few runs but only for a short while until I’ve done the most sensitive bits.

But the most important thing to do is knock on folks doors to tell them what I’m up to. Doing that I hardly ever have any complaints, maybe once every couple of years. Go and find those affected.

If they come and find me it’s usually a whole different story!!

Limex would probably suit better. You get the ph raised with very little dust.

I tell dusty householders it is valuable for their garden and we are giving it them free of charge. Try to avoid spreading when washing is out, mind.

Some of the more savvy ones with heathers and rhododendrons get a bit arsy, but a few kilos of AN cheer them up.
